7. GMF JOURNEY
Over Decades
of EXPERIENCE
Starting out in 1949, GMF AeroAsia originated as the Technical Division of Garuda Indonesia
Airlines at the Kemayoran and Halim Perdanakusuma airports in Jakarta, Indonesia. Back in 1984,
GMF AeroAsia relocated to Soekarno Hatta International Airport and rebranded itself as the Division
of Maintenance & Engineering (M&E), which developed into an outright independent business unit.
Subsequently, in 1998 the Maintenance & Engineering Division transformed itself into the Strategic
Business Unit (SBU-GMF), which handles all of Garuda Indonesia's fleet maintenance activities,
thus honing its competitive edge. Eventually in 2002 SBU-GMF was spun off from Garuda
Indonesia, and officially became an independent subsidiary under the name of PT Garuda
Maintenance Facility AeroAsia.
Furthermore, GMF AeroAsia is now rightly considered as one of the best and largest aircraft
maintenance companies in the region as well as being the customer's MRO provider of choice in
2015.

During the public visits,
participants are provided with

Blood Donation
The Blood Donation activities are
done in cooperation with the Red
Cross. Blood Donations are held
every quarter a year, with a goal to
increase GMF AeroAsia employees'
sense of awareness towards others.

Natural Disaster
GMF AeroAsia volunteers to contribute
in providing helps to the victims of
natural disasters, such as earthquakes,
floods and other disasters. GMF Rescue
Team (GRT) is ready to help the victims
affected throughout Indonesia.

Located in the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport near Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, GMF
AeroAsia's 972,123 sq-m site is one of the biggest in Southeast Asia, boasting four hangars and other
facilities.
In addition, other extensive facilities encompass spares parts stores, engine and component workshops,
utility buildings, ground support, equipment building, chemical stores, engine test cells, a vast apron for
aircraft parking and learning centers.

maintenance of narrow body
aircrafts.

Hangar 4 serves up to 16 Narrow Body aircrafts,where one line is dedicated as a painting
hangar. Entirely designed and built by domestic contractors, the largest Narrow Body
hangar in the world has a slightly different design from square shape hangars. Butterfly
contour of the hangar is rarely found elsewhere.
