The future of technology and barriers to adoptionAna Donaldson
The document discusses emerging technologies for higher education over the next 1 to 5 years according to the 2012 NMC Horizon Report. Technologies expected to enter mainstream use within 1 year include cloud computing, mobile apps, social reading, and tablet computing. Technologies predicted to become mainstream within 2-3 years are adaptive learning environments, augmented reality, game-based learning, and learning analytics. Digital identity, gesture-based computing, haptic interfaces, and the internet of things are emerging technologies expected to enter mainstream use within 4-5 years.
The document provides clues and locations for a scavenger hunt around the University of Connecticut campus. It includes natural landmarks like The Rock that can be painted, performance venues like Jorgensen, symbols of graduation like the UConn Seal, statues for good luck before exams such as the Jonathan statue, cafes like Bookworms, cultural centers, computer repair at HuskyTech, veteran memorials, dining halls, bus routes, health services, and scenic spots like Mirror Lake. The scavenger hunt encourages exploring different areas of campus.

The Revival of the Ancient Wonder of Colossus of RhodesGeorge Barboutis
This document proposes revitalizing tourism in Rhodes, Greece through developing an innovative mega-attraction inspired by the ancient Colossus of Rhodes statue. It suggests designing a contemporary artwork in the form of a towering structure that symbolizes peace, hope and optimism. An international design competition would select plans for constructing the landmark, which would be funded through donations. The structure could house museums and host conferences, attracting visitors and positioning Rhodes as a globally significant cultural destination.

This document provides an overview of wound healing, its functions, stages, mechanisms, factors affecting it, and complications.
A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.
