Three concepts explain the psychological basis of depression according to Beck: (1) the cognitive triad, (2) negative self-schemas, and (3) cognitive errors in information processing. Beck believed depressed individuals develop negative self-schemas and make systematic errors in thinking by making arbitrary inferences, selective abstractions, overgeneralizations, and other cognitive distortions. Assertiveness training, which teaches direct but respectful communication, can be an effective treatment for depression and other issues. Beck developed several widely-used scales to measure depression, anxiety, cognitive insight, and other psychological constructs.

Psychotherapy is the utilization of mental techniques, especially wh.pdfanupamele
Psychotherapy is the utilization of mental techniques, especially when in light of general
individual collaboration, to help a man change and conquer issues in coveted ways.
Psychotherapy intends to enhance an individual\'s prosperity and psychological well-being, to
determine or relieve troublesome practices, convictions, impulses, considerations, or feelings,
and to enhance connections and social abilities. Certain psychotherapies are considered proof
based for treating some analyzed mental issue.
1. Concentrate on influence and articulation of feeling. Psychodynamic treatment empowers
investigation
also, discourse of the full scope of a patient\'s feelings. The specialist helps the patient depict and
put words to emotions, counting conflicting emotions, sentiments that are upsetting or
undermining, and emotions that the patient may not at first have the capacity to perceive or
recognize (this remains rather than an intellectual concentration, where the more prominent
accentuation is on musings and convictions; Blagys and Hilsenroth,
2002) There is likewise an acknowledgment that scholarly understanding is not the same as
passionate
understanding, which resounds at a profound level and prompts to change (this is one motivation
behind why numerous clever and mentally disapproved of individuals can clarify the
explanations behind their dif-
ficulties, yet their comprehension does not help them overcome those challenges).
2. Investigation of endeavors to abstain from upsetting
considerations and emotions. Individuals do an awesome
numerous things, intentionally and unconsciously, to maintain a strategic distance from
perspectives
of experience that are disturbing. This evasion (in hypothetical terms, protection and resistance)
may take coarse structures, for example, missing sessions, arriving late, or being shifty. It might
take unobtrusive structures that are hard to perceive in normal social talk, for example,
inconspicuous movements of theme when certain thoughts emerge, concentrating on accidental
parts of an affair instead of on what is mentally significant, taking care of truths and occasions to
the rejection of effect, concentrating on outer conditions as opposed to one\'s own part in
forming occasions, thus on.Psychodynamic specialists effectively concentrate on and investigate
shirkings.
3. Distinguishing proof of repeating topics and designs. Psychodynamic advisors work to
distinguish
what\'s more, investigate repeating topics and examples in patients\' contemplations, sentiments,
self-idea, connections, and beneficial encounters. Now and again, a patient might be intensely
mindful of repeating designs that are agonizing or self-vanquishing yet feel not able to escape
them (e.g., a man who over and over finds
himself attracted to sentimental accomplices who are sincerely inaccessible; a lady who
consistently attacks herself at the point when achievement is close by). In different cases, the
patient might be unconscious of the exampl.

THE VALUE OF A SMILE
It costs nothing but creates much. It enriches those who receive, without impoverishing those who give.
It happens in a flash, and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.
None are so rich that they can get along without it. And none so poor but are richer for its benefits.
It creates happiness in the home, and fosters goodwill in business.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen. It is something that is no earthly good until it is given away.
If at some time you meet someone who fails to give you a smile, may i not ask that you give one of your own?
For none needs a smile so much as those who have none to give.

CRISPR-Cas9, a revolutionary gene-editing tool, holds immense potential to reshape medicine, agriculture, and our understanding of life. But like any powerful tool, it comes with ethical considerations.
Unveiling CRISPR: This naturally occurring bacterial defense system (crRNA & Cas9 protein) fights viruses. Scientists repurposed it for precise gene editing (correction, deletion, insertion) by targeting specific DNA sequences.
The Promise: CRISPR offers exciting possibilities:
Gene Therapy: Correcting genetic diseases like cystic fibrosis.
Agriculture: Engineering crops resistant to pests and harsh environments.
Research: Studying gene function to unlock new knowledge.
The Peril: Ethical concerns demand attention:
Off-target Effects: Unintended DNA edits can have unforeseen consequences.
Eugenics: Misusing CRISPR for designer babies raises social and ethical questions.
Equity: High costs could limit access to this potentially life-saving technology.
The Path Forward: Responsible development is crucial:
International Collaboration: Clear guidelines are needed for research and human trials.
Public Education: Open discussions ensure informed decisions about CRISPR.
Prioritize Safety and Ethics: Safety and ethical principles must be paramount.
CRISPR offers a powerful tool for a better future, but responsible development and addressing ethical concerns are essential. By prioritizing safety, fostering open dialogue, and ensuring equitable access, we can harness CRISPR's power for the benefit of all. (2998 characters)
Antibiotic Stewardship by Anushri Srivastava.pptxAnushriSrivastav
Stewardship is the act of taking good care of something.
Antimicrobial stewardship is a coordinated program that promotes the appropriate use of antimicrobials (including antibiotics), improves patient outcomes, reduces microbial resistance, and decreases the spread of infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms.
WHO launched the Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System (GLASS) in 2015 to fill knowledge gaps and inform strategies at all levels.
ACCORDING TO apic.org,
Antimicrobial stewardship is a coordinated program that promotes the appropriate use of antimicrobials (including antibiotics), improves patient outcomes, reduces microbial resistance, and decreases the spread of infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms.
ACCORDING TO pewtrusts.org,
Antibiotic stewardship refers to efforts in doctors’ offices, hospitals, long term care facilities, and other health care settings to ensure that antibiotics are used only when necessary and appropriate
According to WHO,
Antimicrobial stewardship is a systematic approach to educate and support health care professionals to follow evidence-based guidelines for prescribing and administering antimicrobials
In 1996, John McGowan and Dale Gerding first applied the term antimicrobial stewardship, where they suggested a causal association between antimicrobial agent use and resistance. They also focused on the urgency of large-scale controlled trials of antimicrobial-use regulation employing sophisticated epidemiologic methods, molecular typing, and precise resistance mechanism analysis.
Antimicrobial Stewardship(AMS) refers to the optimal selection, dosing, and duration of antimicrobial treatment resulting in the best clinical outcome with minimal side effects to the patients and minimal impact on subsequent resistance.
According to the 2019 report, in the US, more than 2.8 million antibiotic-resistant infections occur each year, and more than 35000 people die. In addition to this, it also mentioned that 223,900 cases of Clostridoides difficile occurred in 2017, of which 12800 people died. The report did not include viruses or parasites

9. Negative Self-Schemas
Beck believed that depression prone individuals
develop a negative self-schema.
They possess a set of beliefs and expectations about
themselves that are essentially negative and
pessimistic. Beck claimed that negative schemas may
be acquired in childhood as a result of a traumatic
event.
10.
11. Faulty Information processing
(cognitive errors)
Systematic errors in the thinking of the depressed
person maintain the patient's belief in the validity of
his negative concepts despite the presence of
contradictory evidence.
Include:
Arbitrary Inference
Selective Abstraction
Overgeneralization
Magnification & Minimization
Personalization
Absolutistic, Dichotomous Thinking
12. Types of Faulty Information Processing
Arbitrary Inference
refers to the process of
drawing a specific
conclusion on the
absence of evidence to
support the conclusion
or when the evidence is
contrary to the
conclusion.
a response set
Selective abstraction
consists of focusing on a
detail taken out of
context, ignoring other
more salient feature of
the situation and
conceptualizing the
whole experience on the
basis of this fragment.

13. Types of Faulty Information Processing
(cont.)
Overgeneralization:
refers to the pattern of
drawing a general rule
or conclusion on the
basis of one or more
isolated incidents and
applying the concept
across the board to
related and unrelated
situation.
a response set
Magnification and
minimization: seen in

significance or
magnitude of an event

Personalization: the
proclivity to relate
external e vents to oneself
when there is no basis for
making such a
connection.

Absolutistic
(dichotomous thinking)
is manifested in the
tendency to place all
experience sin one of two
opposite categories; for
example, flawless or
defective, immaculate or
filthy, saint or sinner. In
describing oneself,
extreme negative
categorizations are

16. Assertiveness Training
Assertiveness:
Assertiveness can be defined as communication in which
one expresses oneself in a direct and honest manner in
interpersonal situations, while simultaneously
respecting the rights and dignity of others.
17. Assertiveness Training
Assertiveness training can be an effective treatment
for certain conditions, such as depression, social
anxiety, and problems resulting from unexpressed
anger. Assertiveness training can also be useful for
those who wish to improve their interpersonal skills
and sense of self-respect.
18. Beck Scales and Inventories
Dr. Beck has developed and validated many measures
that are widely-used in both research and clinical
settings. Below is a sample of Dr. Beck's scales.
Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI)
Beck Depression Inventory (BDI)
Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II)
Beck Cognitive Insight Scale (BCIS)
Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS)
20. Strengths of CBI
Model has great appeal because it focuses on human
thought. Human cognitive abilities have been responsible
for our many accomplishments so may also be responsible
for our problems.
Cognitive theories lend themselves to testing. When
experimental subjects are manipulated into adopting
unpleasant assumptions or thought they became more
anxious and depressed (Rimm & Litvak, 1969).
Many people with psychological disorders, particularly
depressive, anxiety, and sexual disorders have been found
to display maladaptive assumptions and thoughts (Beck et
al., 1983).
21. Weaknesses of CBI
Requires clients to be attuned to nuances in mood or
attentive to previously unconscious thoughts.
Can be overly prescriptive and ignore individual
factors
Requires the ability to think abstractly (i.e. to think
about thinking).
May not be as depth orientated as some clients may
prefer or see as necessary for change
22. Conclusion
All counseling approaches have both their merits and
their limitations.
Cognitive behavior Therapies are popular for their
broad application, scientific validation and the
structure they can create for counseling.
Cognitive behavioral approaches teach clients the
skills of evaluating their own thought patterns, and as
such, this approach can be successfully transferred to
situations outside of the counseling room.
