MBA Presentation Competition - Walmart International Analyst

Editor's Notes

  • #3 January 2013 - as part of a part of a 18 month study abroad program I wanted to learn how to do business in the US.
  • #4 Orientation week, 1 week after arriving, we had a case competition. We were introduced to all these companies.
  • #5 First learning: how a company adapts its offer to enter different markets. Danone vs. Dannon – pronounciation
  • #6 Founded in 1919 by Isaac Carasso in Barcelona - Ten years later, the company moved to neighboring France VALUE: Health + International Bring health through food to as many people as possible
  • #7 Note: Market adapting = Activia is purple in Argentina.
  • #8 Going back to orientation. Dr Eli Jones said at sme point.
  • #9 Walmart = biggest retailer in the world & biggest customer for many vendors. International = I’ll get to interact with different coutries Analyst = satify the geek part of me.
  • #10 Joke about languages learnings. Jamie would speak English, Ivan would speak Mexican and me French. Chocking to me: small team = reassured…
  • #11 I am working with a much bigger team that I actually got to meet.
  • #13 I understood how important this tool is to drive the business in WMT. Which is really different than other retailers. BIG DATA. http://www.cognizant.com/InsightsWhitepapers/How-Advanced-Analytics-Will-Inform-and-Transform-US-Retail.pdf h ttp://www.acceleratedanalytics.com/blog/2010/10/1/making-sense-of-retail-link-data.html Quote by Dan Phillips Wal-Mart’s VP of Merchandizing Systems.
  • #15 Pretty comfortable wit Excel but it wasn’t enough. Get inside the code = make my life easier.
  • #16 Joint Business Planning Global Import Products
  • #19 See the data > Identify opportunities > Find solutions Technical competency > excel + sales Communicate > communicate internally, internationally and with Walmart.
