Presentation of my analysis and recommendations for the work I did as the Sustainable Procurement Analyst at the George Washington University Office of Sustainability. The objective of the project was to find ways to increase the sustainability of paper procurement at the university. Based on my analysis, I was able to pioneer a strategy that will increase the amount of recycled content paper in use without increasing costs. In addition, I created an Excel-based dashboard that acts as a balanced scorecard and allows users to compare alternate products on a triple bottom line basis.
I gave this presentation at a TMAG conference in 2012. I gave an overview of how we built the Market Intelligence practice at Autodesk, and covered my best practices for communicating data-driven insights to cross-functional audiences.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) seeks to improve on revenue and brand identity on its retail shipping packaging and product lines that generated $11 billion in sales in FY 2011. Shipping supplies that are not considered environmentally preferable are candidates for improvement. Improvements will consist of integration of sustainable aspects such as economic and social value, efficient use of energy and materials, recycled content, compostability or biodegradability, and non-toxicity into identified shipping packaging and products. Identified packaging and product lines will be certified by a third party eco–labeling program, and measured as environmentally preferable retail products for profitability, volume, weight, and greenhouse gas measurements.
It is being proposed that a product innovation team be formed for the purpose of using Six Sigma methodologies to determine importance, problems or opportunities, improvements, and sustainable gains necessary to foster gains and improvements in shipping supplies not considered environmentally preferable.

The construction industry heavily relies on clay bricks, but their production raises environmental concerns. This study explores consumer willingness to pay (WTP) for sustainable bricks with a lower environmental impact. We investigate how messaging about the environmental benefits of these bricks resonates with consumers. Using a survey methodology (or chosen method), we examine consumer WTP for sustainable bricks compared to conventional options. The study also analyzes factors influencing WTP, such as environmental concern and perceived benefits. Furthermore, we explore preferred messaging themes regarding the environmental advantages of sustainable bricks. Our findings contribute to understanding consumer behavior in the context of sustainable construction practices. The research provides valuable insights for the clay brick industry to develop effective strategies for promoting sustainable products and aligning with consumer preferences.

This seminar explores the question of whether multinational corporations are a force for environmental sustainability in developing countries. The paper argues that although MNCs have the potential to contribute to sustainable development, their actual environmental impact largely depends upon the degree to which their activities are regulated. Given the huge environmental control costs and the profit-minded nature of MNCs, industry self-regulation is unlikely to be effective where it conflicts with the primary objectives of multinationals. Thus, to turn MNCs into a more positive force for sustainable development, voluntary initiatives must, by virtual necessity, be combined with effective regulatory mechanisms.
- Public procurement in India accounts for 20% of GDP and includes large infrastructure projects at both the federal and state levels, however, there is no unified system and no specialized training.
- While India lacks a coherent GPP/SPP policy, principles of transparency, equality, and accountability are outlined in the General Financial Rules to promote non-discriminatory and open bidding practices.
- Efforts to promote more sustainable procurement include reserving procurement quotas for handloom sectors to support employment, and establishing energy efficiency standards for appliances and equipment.
- International collaborations and guidelines developed by organizations like the EU and UNEP are helping to inform and establish India's own GPP guidelines and criteria for priority product
This document analyzes trends in green investments using two approaches - the global public goods approach and the global value chain approach. The global public goods approach emphasizes shared responsibility for the environment and uses protected areas to conserve biodiversity. The global value chain approach integrates environmental protection into business operations by viewing nature as a production factor. The document reviews reports from the Asian Development Bank, KfW, Coca-Cola, and Unilever to discover that the global value chain approach is more common. This has implications for organizations like WWF to fill gaps in funding for global public goods.
Review on Green Supply Chain Management as a Strategic Approach for Better Co...YogeshIJTSRD
Development based on sustainability is the key to ensure a firm’s endurance and green supply chain management practices improves performance by considering environmental laws and standards, increasing customer awareness, and reducing adverse environmental effects through products and services. Strategies aligned with the green supply chain helps firms with creation of opportunities for better performance and meet the requirements of sustainability. This review paper aims to gain insights based on management of the green supply chain and its strategic effect on corporate performance through competitiveness. Based on the review, it is confirmed that a greener supply network has various benefits related to it and implementing green supply chain practices in sync with strategic planning can enhance corporate performance of firms in varied aspects. However, it also highlighted a research gap as there are limited studies showcasing the measured effect of greener supply network strategies and initiatives on corporate performance of a firm. Lastly, the paper contributes with avenues for further research with the possibilities of strategic approaches for a greener value chain to elucidate its impact quantitatively. Sanath.
