The document outlines a daily routine to increase happiness consisting of writing down three things one is grateful for, exercising for ten minutes, meditating for two minutes, reflecting positively on one event, and performing a random act of kindness.
The document lists numerous free holiday events occurring in Saginaw, Michigan on November 20-21, including a lighting ceremony, food vendors, a live nativity, visits to cultural sites, free admission to the children's zoo, concerts, a parade, fireworks, a 5k run, open houses, and more. Events will take place at locations like the Water Treatment Plant, Andersen Enrichment Center, Castle Museum, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Temple Theatre, and throughout downtown Saginaw and Old Town. The schedule provides timing and details for each event.
Darius Davis has had a passion for music since childhood. He started rapping and writing songs with his sister at a young age. Throughout middle school and high school, he joined rap groups and continued honing his skills. After facing setbacks like losing music to a producer, he founded his own label called Gatormade Entertainment. Davis served in the military and used that time to expand his fanbase. He now attends Full Sail University to further his education and take his career to new heights.

Social Media in Sri Lanka: Do Science and Reason Stand a Chance? - Nalaka Gun...Nalaka Gunawardene
Sri Lanka’s first Science and Technology for Society (STS) Forum took place from 7 to 10 September in Colombo. Organized by the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Research, it was one of the largest gatherings of its kind to be hosted by Sri Lanka. http://costi.gov.lk/sts/
Science writer Nalaka Gunawardene was keynote speaker during the session on ‘Using Social Media for Discussing Science Topics’. He used it to highlight how social media have become both a boon and bane for scientific information and thinking in Sri Lanka.
For now, it appears that pseudo-science and anti-science sentiments – some of it rooted in ultra-nationalism or conspiracy theories -- dominate many Lankan social media exchanges. It is as if Lankan society has permanently suspended disbelief.
How and where can the counter-narratives be promoted on behalf of evidenced based, rational discussions? Is this a hopeless task in the face of irrationality engulfing wider Lankan society? Or can progressive and creative use of social media help turn the tide in favour of reason?
Answers to these questions are explored in this presentation, which also cites examples of promising counter-narratives emerging in social media itself. Social media being a contested space, the race between darkness and light continues...
Three Roads to Sustainability - Considering Three Common Narratives in Conser...Mark Gibson
These slides were used in a lecture on giving an overview of what I see as the three dominant narratives in conservation today. It was strongly informed by my own experience working in global conservation among some of the larger eNGOs in Washington, DC, and - of course - remains a perspective in progress. It was delivered as part of an undergraduate study abroad course considering wildlife conservation in Madagascar.
Lis Nimani's thesis defense presentation covered the hydrogenolysis of lignin from lignocellulosic biomass into monomeric subunits on metal catalysts. The presentation introduced renewable energy and lignocellulosic biomass, including its composition of polysaccharides and lignin. It outlined the problem of inefficient lignin utilization in current biomass conversion processes and the objectives of using hydrogenolysis to simultaneously convert polysaccharides and lignin into fuels and chemicals. Key aspects of lignin hydrogenolysis discussed included the effects of various reaction conditions on monomer yield from isolated lignin sources.
This document provides information about stairs, including definitions of key stair parts and types of stairs. It defines a stair as a set of steps leading from one level to another inside a building. The main parts of a stair are identified as the step, tread, riser, handrail, baluster, newel post, run, and nosing. Six common types of stairs are described: straight stairs, doglegged stairs, quarter turn stairs, open newel stairs, three quarter turn stairs, and bifurcated stairs. Spiral or circular stairs are also introduced as a type that is useful when space is limited.
The document discusses fall-ceiling designs for villas by Beverly Properties. It notes that design should be cost effective and use new lighting technologies like spotlights and mood lighting to provide lighting that lasts. It recommends choosing durable materials to ensure the ceiling's strength and longevity, and suggests improvements like using wallpaper, vinyl stickers, abstract colors, and natural gradients to create a sea blue design.
Considering Optimism and Pessimism in ConservationMark Gibson
These slides were used in a guided discussion on our causes for optimism and pessimism in conservation. It was based on Matt Ridley's The Rational Optimist, and Stephen K. Meyer's The End of the Wild, and was delivered as part of an undergraduate study abroad course considering wildlife conservation in Madagascar.
