The New 7 Wonders of the World project announced winners in 2007 that were chosen from over 100 million votes to update the ancient wonders list. The winners were: Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Chichen Itza Mayan ruins in Mexico, the Colosseum in Rome, the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu Inca ruins in Peru, Petra stone city in Jordan, and the Taj Mahal mausoleum in Agra, India.
