This presentation will introduced information about the Supercomputer whih was inougurated at IITM,pune which have the speed of 6.8 PF . This is sort in to two differnt speed ,the 4.0PF speed supercomputer installed at IITM,pune and 2.8PF speed supercomputer installed at Noida. It's only used for weather forecasting knowlegde collection. in june july august and sept.
I hope this ppt will increases the some inforamation about supercomputer.
thank you
3. A computer or array of computers that act as
one collective machine capable of processing
enormous amount of data. Supercomputers
are used for very complex jobs such as
nuclear research or forecasting weather
patterns.
4. Natural resources
Weather forecasting
Medical research
Nuclear research and calculation
Space science etc.
5. PARAM 8000 (Parallel Machine)
Set up in 1988 by Department of Electronics
with Dr. Vijay Bhatkar as its Director.
which was installed in 1991 by Center for
Development of Advanced Computing
India(C-DAC)
Placing India second after US.
64 CPU’s was used in to design.
6. The system was inaugurated
by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union
Minister for science and
technology, on 8 January
2018. The word 'Pratyush'
(Hindi: प्रत्युष) means the Sun
7. Dedicated for weather and climate research .
And follows Japan,USA, and UK.
It will move an Indian SC from 300s to 30 in
top 500 list.
Total expenditure 450cr.
8. The machine will be installed at two govt.
institutes
First at, 4.0 Petaflops HPC facility at “Indian
Institute of Tropical Meterology, Pune”.
Second at, “National Cetre for Medium Range
Weather Forecast,Noida”.
9. Monsoon forecasting using dynamic model.
This requires simulating the weather for given
month-say March- and letting a custom –
built model calculate how the actual weather
will play out over June, July, August and Sept.
10. With the new system, it would be possible to
map reigns in India at a resolution of 3km
and the globe at 12km.
