Optimizing Commercial Software for Intel Xeon Coprocessors: Lessons LearnedIntel IT Center
This document discusses optimizing seismic modeling software to run on Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors. It describes how reverse time migration (RTM) was parallelized across multiple Xeon Phi cards and cores to process large seismic datasets. Various techniques were used to optimize performance, including partitioning the data domain, using OpenMP for multi-threading, tuning thread affinity, and adding memory access hints. These optimizations achieved a 2.3x speedup over a single CPU core. The document provides examples of parallelizing the computation and discusses lessons learned from optimizing the commercial software for Xeon Phi architectures.
Instrumenting Application Stack in a Dynamically Scaling Environment (DMG212)...Amazon Web Services
(Presented by Datadog) Gaining visibility into an application stack’s performance is necessary to understand how the stack is running and to configure alerts effectively. Instrumenting each component in the stack to produce metrics provides this insight. In an environment that scales automatically, hosts are being automatically added, removed, and reassigned. Using an automated methodology for instrumentation in these environments can improve results and save you time. This session includes a live demo component to show auto-instrumentation of hosts, graphing, and alerting on metrics.
The Emergence of Co-operative Business Associations, NCBA Conference, 2013NFCACoops
The document discusses the emergence of cooperative business associations. It begins with an introduction of the panelists moderating a discussion on cooperative business associations. The panelists then provide details on their respective associations, including how they started and current challenges. They discuss the importance of networks for cooperatives and obstacles faced in developing cooperative networks. The panels also outline results of lack of networks and elements that contribute to successful cooperative networks and associations. They emphasize that regional, cross-sector cooperative networks are key to capitalizing on the growing cooperative movement.
XSLT is used to transform XML payloads between different forms. In Mule, the XSLT transformer component allows transforming XML payloads using XSLT stylesheets. For example, a flow uses an HTTP inbound endpoint, sets an XML payload, and applies an XSLT stylesheet using the XSLT transformer to output a new transformed XML payload. The XSLT stylesheet matches elements in the input XML and outputs a new structure defined in the stylesheet.
The document discusses decomposing a complex Mule flow into smaller parts using VM components.
The VM transport allows breaking a large, complex flow into smaller pieces connected by queues for better control and performance. This helps control each event queue, reduces flow complexity, and prevents resources from being overcommitted.
The example shows exposing a CXF web service by breaking the flow into two parts connected by a VM queue. It stores the SOAP action in a property before sending to the VM queue to preserve it for the second flow.
Adaptive Content for Luminate CMS bbCon 2015Lacey Kruger
This session was presented at bbCon 2015. With an ever-changing landscape of screen sizes, responsive design is the only way to keep up. When nonprofits make the move to responsive design, the structure of their content must change as well. In this session, we'll explore how to use Luminate CMS to construct adaptive content.
Presented at bbCon 2015. This is always a popular session, for good reason! In this session, we will take volunteers from the audience to show their websites' homepage. Then, together, we will conduct a peer review of the page, guided by our list of homepage best practices. For the volunteers, we will wireframe a new, responsive design homepage on-the-fly.

Designing display templates for each content type
Ensuring your content model is adaptive for various devices or channels
IA Summit 2015 presentation
Audio available via IA Summit Library: http://library.iasummit.org/speakers/lacey-kruger/
With the rise of responsive design, a content model and a CMS are necessities for any content-rich web presence. Once you’ve designed the front-end user experience, it’s important to consider the content structure that will support your design. Content models define:
the underlying structure of each type of content
the user experience for content authors and editors within the CMS
Luckily, designing a content model is a natural extension of IA for a front-end user experience. In this talk, we'll get into the details of HOW to content model. We'll dissect the content model for a single content type for a nonprofit website. The goals for this content model were:
to be adaptive and portable for any device or context
to contain a lot of content, yet display it in a simple way
a successful user experience for administrators creating and editing the content
a delightful user experience for end users of the content
In content modeling, there are often multiple approaches you could take so I’ll also cover the alternate models we explored and describe the process that led us to our end result.
Session Takeaways
Define a content model
Evaluate a content item and create a content model based on that item
Learn best practices for adaptive content models
