Maturity models can help auditors to make sense of
the management practices and controls they observe
during engagements.

2. Auditors can use maturity models to establish
appropriate criteria for assessing processes and
control environments.
A good rule of thumb for maturity models is
that low maturity means lower likelihood of
effective performance, and higher maturity
means higher likelihood.

communicate what they find with regards to
governance, risk or control environments.
