This document provides guidance for teachers on a new ELD section being added to standards-based report cards. The purpose is to document English language development as a core subject for English learners and notify parents. It includes background on the transition to align with new ELD standards and Common Core. The ELD section will have four proficiency levels and indicate performance in listening/speaking and reading/writing. Teachers are instructed to complete one column per trimester to show a student's current level of English proficiency. Assessments and guidelines for parent-teacher conferences regarding the ELD section are also outlined.
