This week we look at God. Who is God? It's one thing to "know" God is love. But often our awareness of God is shaky when we feel like we have failed God. Is God's love really greater than our failure? How does God look at us?

Though grace is a theological term, the impact of grace is most deeply felt in the story of our lives. This week we’ll take another look at the story two brothers in Luke 15, the story often called the parable of the prodigal son. The parable is really, and especially about both sons, and how they differently perceive and accept their father’s grace.

The church we see has hundreds of families growing to become mature followers of Jesus Christ. We are a church that loves God, loves others, connects people with God and grows people.
Learning to love and accept others starts with understanding that God love us and accepts us as we are. When we truly understand this we can be free to be ourselves. When we blow it we say sorry, repent and receive God's forgiveness. When we live this way it is easy to understand that other people are not perfect either.
Overcoming worry by trusting in the character of GodLionel Rattenbury
Trusting in God and becoming dependant upon him is one of the important keys to living in God's perfect peace. Pastor Lionel Rattenbury shares about how we can trust in the character of God.
Agape love (verb) or Agapo love (noun) is the love that God has for his son, the love that Jesus has for us and the love that he wants us to have for others. God's love is unconditional, sacrificial and essential to Christians.

Mercy - Jesus taught his disciples how they are to live as Christians. He said that if they wanted to follow him they are to exercise mercy rather than revenge. They were to exercise grace, humility, mercy, forgiveness and generosity.
What Jesus said about divorce. He actually taught about God's perfect plan for man and woman. They would live together as one. But how do we live out God's perfect plan in an imperfect world with imperfect people
Mans way of dealing with issues of anger is to deal with the outward actions, Anger management looks at strategies to deal with anger when it arises, Jesus deals with the heart.
Jesus told his disciples that they were the salt of the earth & the light of the world. He would tell Christians today that the same message. Christians must let God's life, light and love shine out of them.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

2. Luke 15:11-13
And he said, “There was a man who had two sons.
12
And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father,
give me the share of property that is coming to me.’
And he divided his property between them. 13 Not
many days later, the younger son gathered all he
had and took a journey into a far country, and there
he squandered his property in reckless living. 14 And
when he had spent everything, a severe famine
arose in that country, and he began to be in need.
15
So he went and hired himself out to one of the
citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to
feed pigs. 16 And he was longing to be fed with the
pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him
anything.
3. “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father's
hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with
hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him,
“Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. 19 I am no
longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired
servants.”’ 20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was
still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and (ran
and embraced him and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him,
‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer
worthy to be called your son.’22 But the father said to his servants,
‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his
hand, and shoes on his feet. 23 And bring the fattened calf and kill it,
and let us eat and celebrate. 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive
again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.
17
4. “Now his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew
near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 And he called
one of the servants and asked what these things meant. 27 And
he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has
killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe
and sound.’ 28 But he was angry and refused to go in. His father
came out and entreated him, 29 but he answered his father,
‘Look, these many years I have served you, and I never
disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat,
that I might celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of
yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes,
you killed the fattened calf for him!’ 31 And he said to him, ‘Son,
you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. 32 It was
fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead,
and is alive; he was lost, and is found.’”
