This document provides information about various historical sites in Greenup County, Kentucky. It mentions Jesse Stuart's home place, Greenbo Lake State Resort, the birthplace of Jesse Boone, son of Daniel Boone, Greenup's two war memorials, historical churches, covered bridges, wildlife, and additional historical sites like Buffalo Iron Furnace. It also provides photos of some of these local landmarks and celebrities from the area.
Greenup County is named after Christopher Greenup, one of its founding fathers.
Jessie Stuart was a local author/poet/laureate who wrote many books about his life in W-Hollow in Greenup.

Greenbo Lake State Resort Park is the site of many historical markers and offers a variety of recreational activities for visitors.
Church is situated near the entrance to Greenbo; lake view is shown from the perspective of the fishing pier near the boat ramp.
I decided to use this in place of Billy Ray Cyrus, since it seems more appropriate with the overall theme of the presentation.

Part of the Collier/West Highway (US 23 in Greenup) was renamed “Country Music Highway” in honor of Keith Whitley, Billy Ray Cyrus, et al.

Masterpiece
The First Methodist Church (left), built in 1845, is still in operation today. Church on right built in 1855.
I’m not sure if this would be termed “historical”, I chose it for the reflection of that amazing sunset in it’s window and the “strategically-placed” daytime moon overhead.

Located off of Rte 7 on East Tygart’s Rd; spans Tygart’s Creek
Located in Oldtown off of Rte 1 (E.K. Rd); spans the Little Sandy river – no longer in use.
The photo on the right shows “Uncle Carl” (Collier) stirring his homemade apple butter while unknown persons look on.
The Butternut Barn is owned and operated by members of the Collier family.

There are several iron furnace structures and E.K. Railway tunnels located throughout Greenup County.
The oval track is now a driving range.
