This study examined the effects of music versus no music on bench press strength (1RM) and endurance (number of repetitions at 60% of 1RM) in 12 subjects (6 male, 6 female). There were no significant differences in 1RM for males or females with music. However, females performed significantly more repetitions during the endurance test with music compared to without music, increasing their average by 4.2 repetitions. The study found no significant effects of music for males for either 1RM strength or endurance.
