The Portland’5 Centers for the Arts education program reached nearly 6,000 students from low-income schools in FY2015-16 with free culturally diverse performances. The program paid for transportation and study guides in multiple languages to get kids excited about science, literature and the arts. Portland’5 presented 26 world-class performances and welcomed emerging artists, diversifying income and audiences. The five venues contributed significantly to the local economy in FY2015-16, generating nearly $94 million in spending, 980 jobs and $36.5 million in earnings.
