PROTOTYPE & DESIGN
Design Objective. We set out to design a series of balsa model airplanes with wings intricately cut with ancient patters backed
with Japanese paper. The delicate wings needed to be sturdy enough to withstand assembly and flight. The body needed to sup-
port the wings, but not distract from the design.
The Turbo Flyer® Pattern Series is a collection of historical patterns from around the world reinterpreted in flight. These
special edition artplanes celebrate and highlight different cultures by re-imagining traditional patterns into the wings of our
decorative aircraft.
Moorish Circle Geometry In Islamic art, the circle represents a primordial symbol of unity and the ultimate source of all diver-
sity in creation. The natural division of the circle into regular divisions is the starting point for many traditional Islamic patterns.
The innovative packaging is screen printed cardboard laser cut to display the actual wings.
The description of the pattern is inset within the layers of cardboard. The Case is held closed
with Velcro tabs and can be used to protect the model when it is disassembled.

Designing a kit that aids in finishing animals that have been cared for and carefully raised
in an urban environment to provide food, Urban Butcher tackles the psychology and safe
handling of knives to better equip the amateur urban farmer for the difficult task of harvesting
an animal
SKETCHING & DESIGN
A prototype was produced with metal, plastic and wood to prove the concept. The metal structure and blade is enclosed in
plastic and then the handle is attached to the blade. The plastic adheres to the metal but is also physically attached through the
perforations. The wood handle is attached with dowels so that it can be replaced if necessary.
PROTOTYPE & DESIGN
Butcher Kit is designed to contain everything an urban farmer needs to go from live animal to pot. The kit also includes
items needed to maintain the knives an a carrying case to make the kit mobile. The farmer can use it to set up shop
wherever their farm is as opposed to bringing the animals to them. The handle and plastic coating are designed to allow
the novice user to interact with the product comfortably and correctly to ready them for the task of harvesting.

The goal of this project is to tap into the emotional aspect of coffee brewing using high-tech function in an
approachable - almost cute - package.
CONCEPT IDEATION
Coffeemonster creates a digital coffee brewing experience. Single cup brewing allows for each cup to be customized
to the users preferences. The preferred grounds are inserted through the top, and additional preferences are chosen
remotely through Bluetooth. The coffee maker’s internal scale weighs the grounds in order to determine the correct
proportion of hot water to dispense to meet the users preferences.

The goal of this project is to achieve a consistent design language across three products of different scale - a pre-fabricated
structure, a piece of furniture, and a product. Structure and materials are two key elements that unify the three designs to create
a minimal vacation retreat.
DESIGN CONCEPT
Consistent design language is a critical part to this project. The house, piece of furniture,
and product need to look like they belong together in both form and functionality. The form
is based on breaking apart the cube to create usable space. The structure is apparent each
product. Functionally the products are designed to be mobile, compact, changeable, and work
together to create an overall experience.
