The document describes four attempts to design a light installation without using screens directly. The first attempt used a mirror reflection but had issues with individual light. The second used multiple windows to create shapes like a church window. The third involved a spiral pillar design. The fourth attempt recycled rubbish in some way but the details are unclear.
The document presents proposals for three different projects: an adaptive reuse of a warehouse into a cohousing center for transition age foster youth, a K-12 school remodel for students with unique learning capabilities, and a rowhouse remodel in Brooklyn with a theme of nostalgic simplicity. Diagrams, plans, sketches, renderings, and perspectives are provided to illustrate the proposed designs for each project. The projects aim to provide housing, education, and community support for vulnerable populations.

Eric Wilmot is a landscape architect with several projects in his portfolio including masterplanning Daylesford Abbey, an 80-acre religious community, designing a pocket park in North Philadelphia, and designing a roof garden for the Temple Ambler campus. His Daylesford Abbey masterplan connected site elements, added hermitage cabins and a columbarium, and incorporated an amphitheater. For the pocket park, he designed concentric circles reflecting a neighborhood mural and included seating, fountains, and a cafe. His roof garden design for Temple Ambler explored the building's infrastructure to place plantings and programmed spaces like a sunroom.

17. Ann Hamilton was my assigned artist. I drew inspiration from one of her photographs titled “Reflections” in order to create linework, a color scheme, and a
sculpture. The final phase was to design a scale model of a museum on UNCG’s campus to house Ann Hamilton’s creative works along with my sculpture.
ANN HAMILTON MUSEUM MODEL

Hamilton’s “Event of a
Thread” Installation is
mimicked here through the
large white sheets that flow
from the ceiling. One sheet
pushes through an opening
in the 2nd storys’ floor and
flows through to the 1st floor
in front of the entry.
The ceiling of the 2nd floor is
vaulted with a central strip of
skylights. Exposed wooden
trusses are seen here.
Short, elongated windows
are along the bottom of
the side walls on the 1st
floor. This gives the illusion of
a floating wall & allows for
indirect natural light that will
preserve the art.

inspiration for this entire proj-

It influenced the material of my
sculpture (glass), as well as the
color palette & wave-like
arrangement.
I then designed a Museum
that would be built on UN-
CG’s campus near the Jackson
Library.

37. RACHEL TABER
Thank you for taking the time to look at my portfolio!
My name is Rachel, and I was born in Florida. My father has been a Marine for 24 years, so this
caused my family and I to move every four years until I was 20. I graduated High School in NC, got my
Associate’s degree in Art in California, and moved back to North Carolina to get my Bachelor’s in
Interior Architecture at UNCG. North Carolina has no comparison, and I choose to call it my true home.
I have always had a passion for interior design, renovations, and DIY. Growing up, my parents bought fixer-
uppers, and we lived in each home while we renovated them. Becuase of this, I have been knee deep
in rubble, I have walked on grimy concete floors for 9 months, and I have grown larger shoulder
muscles from re-texturing the ceiling of an entire house. Each time, I became more creative and
knowledgeable about the processes of demolition, ideation, design, renovation, staging, and
the final sale. I was taught to “Measure Twice & Cut Once,” and I like to get the job done right the
first time. I am an energetic, fast-paced learner and always eager to try something new and exciting!
Discover your world.
Design for it.
