Working as a Freelance Designer producing
designs for press adverts, posters, promotional
literature, business cards and in-house freelance
production design.
Previously I was Workflow Manager/Senior
Designer at Auction Technology Group, specifically
for the Antiques Trade Gazette, a fine arts and
antiques publication established in 1971.
I managed a small production team who layout all
advertising content, pre-flight artwork and carry
out all image editing.
I have worked with marketing, sales and editorial
departments within the Gazette team, successfully
managing the workflow of the Antiques Trade
Gazette to ensure weekly deadlines are met.
I have worked on a variety of products and
projects including a yearly Art & Antiques Diary
and London Summer Capital of Art, a specialist
publication of summer events in the antiques
industry, and ATG Asian Art Special.
I have created artwork to existing and new
templates, following client briefs or in-house styles,
worked on editorial layouts, colour corrected
images and a whole variety of other tasks within
the production environment.

SALES REPORT
January 2018
2017 has been an eventful year for
the insolvency industry, starting
with the modernised insolvency
rules in April. They represented the
most significant legislative change
to affect the insolvency profession
in the three decades since the
Insolvency Act was introduced in
1986, with the aim of consolidating
the existing rules and their
amendments into a single piece of
legislation.
The key aims of the legislators in
introducing these changes were to
increase creditor engagement in the
insolvency process and to reduce
unnecessary administrative burdens,
which reduced returns to creditors.
The key points of the legislation were
the abolition of physical creditor
meetings and the introduction of
electronic communication. There
were no fundamental changes to
individual insolvency processes.
Whether the new legislation will
lead to greater creditor engagement
and produce the increased returns
anticipated by the legislators remains
to be seen.
Furthermore, In November, the
Bank of England raised the base rate
0.25% to 0.5%. While this was a small
increase, it marked the first rise in
borrowing costs for a decade. The
general feeling among is that there
will potentially be a further 0.25%
rate rise next year, and possibly
a second, which will take Bank of
England base rate to 1%.
Joe Bloggs of JB Auctions Ltd feels
that the increase in interest rates will
have little to no short-term impact on
the insolvency industry. Mr Bloggs
said “Although this is the first rate
rise we have seen for over 10 years,
it is a relatively insignificant amount,
I think it will be toward the back end
of 2018 before this starts to bear
fruit in the insolvency sector”. He
continued “A subtle increase such as
this may have an adverse effect on
the insolvency industry as it warns
businesses not to become too over
exposed as further increases may be
possible in the future”.
ATG saw an increase in the number
of auctions streamed through the
BidSpotter portal in 2017. This rise
of 37% YOY was surpassed by the
207% increase in online hammer
totalling close to £12m. In addition,
the average number of registrants
increased by 18% to 160 per

Registrants more likely to bid Increase of total hammer Clearance
There were a couple of factors that
heavily contributed to the 18% YOY
increase in auction registrants
and the increase in lots sold
online. Firstly, categorisation was
rolled out across the BidSpotter
portal, after previous success
on ATG’s arts and antiques
portal thesaleroom.com. The
implementation of Categorisation
on the saleroom resulted in a
92% increase of unique visitors
YOY. Going forward into 2018 we
are aiming to see comparable
increases across BidSpotter.
Secondly, Pre-Auction
Competitive Bidding was rolled
out in mid 2017. This enables
the Auctioneer to stream a mini-
timed auction before the live event
starts. Where auctioneers are
using Pre-Auction Competitive
Bidding, they have experienced
an 11% increase in the number of
auction registrants. Registered
bidders are 12% more likely to bid
and total hammer per auction has
increased by 23%.
