Jennifer Ramirez was considering dropping out of college due to family pressures during midterms. When custodians Reggie Keys and Sam Berry stopped by her office, their encouragement convinced her to continue pursuing her goal of becoming a teacher. Keys and Berry are well-known on campus for their friendly personalities and quietly supporting education. Over a dozen years ago, they joined the Black Faculty & Staff Association and opted to donate $5 per month to their scholarship fund. Their small donation aimed to help further education. Both custodians have created a sense of community and family on campus for students living away from home for the first time.
