This document provides a summary of Kató Lomb's book "Polyglot: How I Learn Languages". Lomb was considered one of the most multilingual women, able to speak 16 languages. Though she was indifferent to languages as a student, she began learning languages like English and Russian as an adult for work. The book relates her experiences and principles for language learning. It uses different styles - memoir, exposition, and metaphor - to convey different types of content. Lomb believed motivation, perseverance and pragmatism were more important than innate ability for language learning. She advocated reading widely in the target language for interest and learning grammar inductively through use of the language. Her experiences provide insights relevant to theories of second language acquisition.
