This document defines a portfolio and outlines its structure and typical contents. A portfolio is a collection of documents selected for a particular purpose, such as documenting a design project. There are different types of portfolios including project, course, and showcase portfolios. For design projects, the document recommends organizing the portfolio around the design process, with sections for research, sketches, technical drawings, modeling, testing and evaluation, and reflection. Each section would contain examples, documentation, and artifacts from that stage of the process. The completed portfolio stands alone, can be used for presentations, and cites sources.
