My Radio Show
What is my idea?
• I plan to create a radio show that subverts from the old-fashioned,
and traditional template and structure of previous radio
scripted shows such as The Archers.
• To combine conventions and elements of relaxed chatty podcasts and
the stand-up comic style often adopted by Radio 4 comedy shows
What is my idea
• 2 consistent presenters, with a
special guest each week
• The special guest would be
someone who is funny-
famous e.g Stormzy, who have a
political interest
• They would discuss the headlines
of the week and essentially joke
about them
• There will be a fun audience
segment in every show, in which
listens will send in niche and
hillarious headlines such as:
Inspiration
• I believe that their isn't an easy and fun way of young people
accessing the news. I don't believe that the news shouldn't just be for
people who are naturally interested in it, but equally accessible to all
that are effected by it
• "The show that breaks the news and asks four opinionated panelists
to put it back together again" BBC Radio 4 Scotland
Shows like 'Late Night Woman's Hour', show that even Radio 4 is having
to diversify out of traditional radio show conventions, and use a more
casual, and chatty approach
What I plan to incorporate
• Think Celebrity interview, but make it political, with a dash of
audience interaction
• Casual, chatty conversation of
How will it fit the brief?
• a fun-loving 16–25 year old mass market demographic.
• Content must be suitable for Radio 4 in the late evening comedy slot
(weekdays 11pm–11.30pm).
• a pilot comedy programme to be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in an
attempt to attract a broader audience to the channel
How will it appeal to target audience
Savani:
- A politics student, but
finds normal news outlets
boring
-Follows celebrities such as
Jameela Jamil
Charlene:
-Wants to be more up to
date with the news
-Listens to similar comedy
podcasts
Leo:
-Is an activive political
member, but enjoys taking
a less-serious approach to
politics
