1. Planing My Photoshoot.
For my photoshoot i planned to take landscape photos St Ives, Cambridge. These would
be used for tourism purposes to advertise the beauty and appeal of the local area.
The location will be around the central business district (the town centre) this is because of
the variation of shops and activities and also the most popular attraction of the Great Ouse
River. I also will take photos in the surrounding fenlands around the river because they are
great for walks and bike rides which appeal to tourists.
The equipment that I used was a Nikon D3100 camera, I used this in order to get the best
quality possible to give my photos the best chance at looking professional. I also will use a
tripod this will help reduce the risk of blurry and unstable photos. To take the photos i have
given myself the from 10am-1pm on Friday 31st May 2013. This would give me enough
time to get to the different locations for the different shots but also give me enough time to
spend time exploring to make sure that i could get the most out of a certain area.
For a budget I used professional rates in order to keep everything very professional and
industry related. Firstly I looked at how much the equipment would cost to purchase. Next i
had to consider whether i would have to pay for the places that that i am planning on
filming, and in came to the conclusion that I wouldnʼt have to as they are all public. Lastly i
considered travel costs, now as I live in the local area travel was not a problem as I could
just walk.
I plan on taking photoʼs of the landscape rather than models and because of this i will not
need to get permission from the people that i am taking photos of. However I will try to get
a minimum amount of members of the public in the shots. When doing this shoot I need to
make sure that the weather was good in order to make the meadow and surrounding area
look good. Before going out to shoot there were many safety considerations that i needed
to take as i was going out into a public area. I partook in a detailed risk assessment of the
local area and the locations that I plan to shoot in.
For development I using a digital memory card so I will simply transfer the photos over to
my Mac Hard-drive and then to edit them i will use Photoshop CS5.1. In editing i plan to
keep it simple, i only want to make the area look better and to do this i will adjust the
lighting levels to make it appear brighter and more appealing. I may also try to edit and
alter the colour of the river to make it appear brighter and more blue.
