Thoughts on my “leadership journey” …
Early responsibility
Commercial success breeds team spirit and vice versa
People skills, esp with a range of people
Seize opportunities
Take learnings from all situations
Seek feedback
See how great the SEC building compare this with the old building
Will share future techno. How can we be like Graphene?
How do we lead results
Show one video at a time, and ask them if they would hire or fire, go to either end of room and discuss.
Thoughts on mistakes I’ve made …
It’s OK to make mistakes; it’s how we learn
US v UK business culture
I’ve ignored feedback e.g. too much caution
I’ve made technical errors … benefit of team responsibility
I’ve not trusted my instinct … have left the wrong person in a role too long
I’ve underprepared for meetings … it was unclear what I wanted
I’ve tried to influence others without building a relationship
Personal mistakes (saying the wrong thing at the wrong time; being sarcastic)
