Daniel Hopkins is pitching an idea for his final major project, a short comedy film. The film follows a teenager deliberating over giving a girl his number after she talks to him at a bus stop. In his mind, anthropomorphic emotions arguing with each other will depict his thought process. There will be conflict, drama, and comedy as the emotions decide what to do. The film will be influenced by British sketch shows and madcap comedies like Airplane. It is targeted towards teenagers and young adults ages 16 to 25.

The genre of myshort filmisa comedy.Itis goingto be a verywacky,somewhatmadcapcomedy
reminiscentof variousskitsfromvariousBritishsketchshowsandtoa degree,filmssuchasAirplane
and Hot Shots.
There are manycodesand conventionsforacomedy.Firstandforemostitshouldbe funny,with
manyfilmshavinghumorousshockstoassistinthe advancementof the plot.Iwant myhumourto
be intelligentthoughhave some more shockhumouraswell foraunique blend.
The ideafor my shortfilmbeginswithateenagerbeingapproachedbyagirl at a busstop, who
beginstalkingtohim.Shortlyafter,she willaskforhisnumberandhe will hesitate,whichwill bring
the filmtothe place where aperson’sthoughtsgothroughtheirpaces- inthe mind.Inthe mind,
anthropomorphicemotions andcharacteristics, eachlookinglikethe teenagerwithslight
differences, will argue overwhatdecisiontomake.There will be conflict,dramaandof course
comedy,asthe variousemotionsdecide whattodo. My filmwill capture the comedyandwackiness
by usinga cloningtool inadobe premiere pro,soitwill appearthe emotionsare all talkingto each
otherface-to-face.
There are several otherproductsmyideaissimilartoo.The bookandfilmDr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is
aboutthe nice dr Jekyll whoturnsintothe cruel andnasty Mr Hyde.Anotherinfluence isidentity,a
filmabouta man with12 personalities,eachone slowlybeingpickedoff byamurderousone.
Anotherinfluence isfrompiratesof the Caribbean,atworld’s end,where jacksparrow engageswith
hallucinatedfiguresof himself. The comedicinfluencesforthisideacome fromcomedianssuchas
Mitchell andWebbas well asothersketchshows.Several of theirsketchesare quite zanyandwacky
and I have modelledmycomedywritingafter there’s.
The mediaproductis generallyaimedatteenagersandpossiblyyoung adults.Ihave electedtogive
an age range of approx.16 – 25. Hopefully,thisaudience will enjoymyproductasits humourshould
be in line withcomedythatteenagersandyoungadultswatch. The mainsellingpointsof myidea
are the cloningeffectsandcomedyinvolved,whichIhope people will enjoy.
