Gamification and the Lean Startup methodology (LSM) have become buzz-words in academic literature, entrepreneurship and business practices world-wide. This synopsis is based on the Master thesis: Gamification of the Lean Startup Methodology by Tore Rasmussen and Simen Øxseth.

This master's thesis examines the board game Playing Lean as an educational tool for learning the Lean Startup Methodology. The thesis provides background on gamification theory, key concepts like storytelling and social learning. It also covers Lean Startup and how Playing Lean conveys its principles. The research aims to understand how gamification through Playing Lean contributes to learning the Lean Startup Methodology and entrepreneurship. A mixed methods approach was used, collecting data from workshops where participants played the game. Results suggest Playing Lean provided a positive learning experience and effective elements were social learning and the facilitator's use of storytelling.
