Editor's Notes
I am going to create two posters for the client in a minimalistic 50s, slightly neo-traditional style. Each poster will have the format of a vintage movie poster with comic book elements. The client has stated that they would like a poster for three products called Lunatic, Mind Sweeper and Brass Monkey. The client has also stated in the brief that would like the posters to give a narrative to the product. So, using the names I decided to give each product a genre. Lunatic has the feel of a psychological thriller, Mind sweeper a sci-fi horror and Brass Monkey would emit action/adventure vibes. So, I will ensure throughout the production that the visual elements of each piece will reflect the genre I have assigned it. One thing I will keep consistent throughout each piece visually is the link back to the client, I will do this by placing a PNG of their logo onto each piece.
Due to the client being a brewery it would make it quite obvious that I will make my work appealing to people over 18. Not only because this is better demographically for the client but also because legally you should not advertise alcohol or make it seem appealing to anyone below the legal drinking age. I have set my target demographic at a broad 18-35 typically even slightly older than that. Due to this being the general age at which someone would indulge in these types of product. The products will be unisex as no one gender consumes alcohol and therefore I should not limit it to one via my design. To ensure this I will include near equal quantities of male and female characters where I can. In the brief the client states that they wish to present their work in bars where their products are sold, so geodemographically this would include people in the areas of York and Malton. The products are suitable for vegans and vegetarians so if I can I may include this to promote that fact.
The only resources I feel that I need for this project are appropriate software (Photoshop) this would be CS6 at college and Elements for any work I do at home, a sketchbook and stationary to draw up my ideas, a scanner to bring them onto the computer and open them in the Photoshop document and possibly a graphics tablet to digitalize the drawn image. As far as I am currently aware I will be the only person working on my project, there are at the moment no elements to my work that I feel I cannot do therefore I do not feel that I require any personnel.
I do not intend to spend any money on this project so my budget is currently non-existent. This is because I do not feel I would need to visit the client (as I can talk to them via the email on the brief), therefore I wouldn't’t be paying for transport to get there or buying any equipment or resources because I already have everything I need. My schedule originally was split so that I would be doing one poster for each week of production, as there are three weeks of production and three posters in the brief. Week one I will focus on the idea that I think is the strongest, this is because I have a clear idea of how I want that piece to be giving me time to on the side develop my others ideas to the same level also. Mind sweeper will hopefully go into production on the second week and the third week I have deemed as time to improve/finish if behind or possibly even produce the third if I have the time. I spaced out my schedule like this so that I didn’t rush any of the work as that would show in the quality of my work, I have also given a day of additional time each week on our day off the ensure completion on the deadline.
