The Advanced Textiles Research Group at Nottingham Trent University
has developed the platform technology for the next generation of
electronic textiles.
The technology has a host of applications for the military that include
sensing, communications, RFID tagging, active camouflage and smart
composites.
8. Advanced Textiles Research Group
CDE are currently funding a project to incorporate temperature sensors into socks to
monitor the conditions that lead to non-freezing cold injury.

Other CDE funding led to an EPSRC grant to the value of £2.8 million for collaborative
research with the University of Southampton to embed smaller components with greater
functionality.
