Bevel, a subsidiary of Walker & Co., is a premium shave and skincare line designed specifically to meet the
needs of African American men. Recently purchased by P&G, the brand aims to provide grooming solutions for
common issues like razor bumps, acne, and beard care. Bevel approached Direct Agents in 2018 to help identify
and reach new audience personas aligned with their core demographic, and execute a digital media campaign
designed to increase awareness, drive traffic to their website and ultimately increase subscriptions and product
sales.
HOW WE DID IT
● Market Research & Intelligence - Direct Agents leveraged proprietary audience research to generate
numerous testing matrices for audiences, creative and messaging
● Go-To-Market Strategy - These were implemented across various media channels including podcasts,
Direct mail postcards, social media influencers, display, paid and organic social, search, and Amazon.
● Customer Journey Optimization- Small-scale testing of numerous audience segments allowed us to

● The retail brand sought a research methodology that could - enable rich
qualitative feedback from consumers at scale, in order to bring the right
consumer-centered health and beauty products to market.
● In addition to gathering foundational insights, the retail brand also
wanted to screen stimuli with consumers and solicit honest feedback
from participants on four potential product suite concepts.
RESULTS
● In two 60-minute sessions with 110 consumers in each session,
the retail brand team was able to analyze participant output in
real-time and at scale.
● Within hours of a session, the retail brand Insights team had
actionable insights into their target audience’s attitudes and
behaviors around “treating” or “rewarding” themselves.
○ 70% of consumers agreed that the purpose of “treating” or “rewarding”
themselves is to have “a break from the stress of life” and to “stay positive.”
○ All four product suite concepts screened well with consumers, but one
stood out as the consumer favorite, with
○ 77% of consumers pointing out the images and use of botanicals in the
product.

An eCommerce subscription company needed to transfer
additional spend from another digital channel to Google. Google
Non-Brand was an efficient channel, but previous efforts to scale
campaigns consistently led to increased CPAs and proved
unsustainable.
RESULTS
● Kanopy AI was implemented and in the next two
months, orders increased by 20% with consistent
CPA, allowing for the budget shift to result in higher
order volume.
● Kanopy AI was also added to the Brand Search
campaign. While maintaining volume, CPA
decreased by 40% and has remained low despite
continued competition growth.

micro-trends to drive a 30% higher ROAS while increasing

RESULTS ● In two 60-minute sessions with 110 consumers in each session, the retail brand team was able to analyze participant output in real-time and at scale. ● Within hours of a session, the retail brand Insights team had actionable insights into their target audience’s attitudes and behaviors around “treating” or “rewarding” themselves. ○ 70% of consumers agreed that the purpose of “treating” or “rewarding” themselves is to have “a break from the stress of life” and to “stay positive.” ○ All four product suite concepts screened well with consumers, but one stood out as the consumer favorite, with ○ 77% of consumers pointing out the images and use of botanicals in the product.
