Jean Piaget was a biologist, psychologist, and philosopher known for his epistemological studies with children and theories that placed great importance on children's education. He helped develop the constructivist theory of knowing and studied how children's cognitive abilities develop through stages from ages 0 to 12, adapting and organizing information through processes like object permanence, egocentrism, logic, and conservation. Piaget viewed the classroom as providing opportunities to create disequilibrium and equilibration through learning.
