1. The document describes an experiment conducted by 5 students to determine the application of steam as an engine.
2. Materials used included a perfume spray, metal tube, Styrofoam, spoons, and other items to construct a simple steam engine model.
3. When steam was applied through the metal tube, the Styrofoam fan rotated, showing that steam has the potential to power engine rotation, though rotation speed depended on steam pressure.

Objectives:
1. To determine the application of steam as an engine.
Materials
8 teaspoons
1 metal tube
1 perfume spray
1 straw
1 plastic cup
1 Styrofoam
1 plier
1 alcohol
1 small empty tin can
1 wooden stick (barbecue or banana cue)
1 pen
1 cutter
Clay (any color)
2 wire
1 syringe
water
Procedure
1. Prepare all the materials.
2. Pull the spray button part of the deodorant. Making a whole on the perfume spray.
3. Insert the metal tube on the whole and make it tight using clay as your glue. Put te small
portion of clay around the metal tube making it tight on its position.
4. Make the deodorant spray stand horizontally with the use of wires and tie it tightly using
the plier. Make sure it will permanently stand for the whole experiment.
5. Make a circle from the styrofoam with the use of the down or buttom part of the plastic
cup as your measurement of the shape size. Marked it with pen.
6. Cut the formed shape using cutter. Make sure that the thickness or height of the circle
from styrofoam are of the same size.
7. After that, divide the circle into eight equal parts with the use of pen.
8. Cut the spoon’s tail. Insert the spoon into the divided Styrofoam. Use the mark as your
guide on where to insert the spoon. Making the head of the spoon as a fan that will
rotate when a wind or steam blows to it.
9. Make a whole at the center of the circle and insert the straw into it.
10. Make a whole at the center of the plastic cup. Insert the wooden stick into it.
11. Insert the straw with Styrofoam into the wooden stick.
12. Put water into the metal tube’s hole with the use of syringe.
13. In the tin can, put a cloth inside it and pour the alcohol into it. Place the tin can under the
perfume spray. Light it with match stick or lighter.
14. Aim the metal tube’s hole into the Styrofoam fan. Observe.
2. Set Up
.
OBSERVATION
The conducted experiment showed strong possibility that steam could be
an engine even though in our experiment, the rotation of the styro fan depends
on the amount of pressure/steam being released. When it releases slow pressure
it’s rotation was also slow, causing the sudden stop of the rotation. When the
pressure being released is fast or shall we say strong enough, it causes it to
rotate continuously.
CONCLUSION
Based on the result of the conducted experiment, it was concluded that a
steam could be an engine. But the engine’s functional capacity depends on the
amount of pressure/steam being released.
