Phones are the most popular device for both adults and teens, with around 80% of society owning a cell phone. In conclusion, phones are generally beneficial for people and daily life would be difficult without access to mobile technology.

What drives someone to get a connected device? What do they expect to get out of it – and what, once they have one, do they really use it for?
Recent O2 research showed that voice calls account for under 10% of the time people spend with smartphones. This is not because we spend less time talking – rather it is that we spend so much time doing other things.
It’s when we look at these behaviours that we see what drives the choices buyers are making. Tablets are not just big-screen smartphones, and smartphones have values which tablets are unlikely to replace.
And what about other issues? Will NFC and Augmented Reality take a hold? Are we becoming over-reliant on our devices? Are our devices secure against a myriad of digital threats?

Cell phones are an indispensable part of the daily human life. The invention of mobile phones changed the way human beings socialize, the way they transact businesses and communicate in general. Along with other technologies such as social media, mobile phones have totally revolutionized human life. Human experiences have changed entirely particularly from a social perspective as discussed in this paper.
The increased usage of mobile devices and the rise of social networking have made personal technology a more integral part of people's lives than ever before. This study looked to uncover any issues and concerns that people have with the increasing pervasiveness of technology in their lives, particularly around security, privacy, and heath/safety.
Some of the key findings from this study are:
- People still do not trust mobile technology enough to feel comfortable making online purchases/transactions, preferring instead to use their computers
- While people have concerns about their online privacy, it has little impact on their actual mobile technology usage
- Concerns over the usage of mobile technology and personal health have little impact on people's mobile device usage, in fact, many people are skeptical over claims that mobile technology may pose a health risk
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
