Phast is comprehensive process hazard analysis software that models incidents from initial release through far-field dispersion. This case study uses Phast to model a catastrophic rupture of an ethane storage tank containing 1000kg of ethane at 25°C and 20 barg. The material properties, scenario of catastrophic rupture, and weather conditions are defined. After inputting the parameters, running the model produces graphs of dispersion, explosion overpressure, and flash fire envelope results.
