The report summarizes a Phase 1 environmental site assessment of the Niagara Wine Visitor and Education Centre located in Niagara On the Lake, Ontario. The site consists of a two-story building on one acre that is used for wine making and education. Surrounding land is used for vineyards. Records review, site visits, and interviews found that the site was historically used for agriculture. Some stains were observed on the wine making facility floor that may require further investigation. Additionally, pesticide and herbicide use in the surrounding vineyards over 15 years warrants further evaluation of potential soil and groundwater contamination. A Phase 2 assessment is recommended.
