Corporate greed and the pursuit of profit have led to a number of social and economic issues in the United States. The war on drugs and tough-on-crime policies have disproportionately increased incarceration rates and benefited private prison companies that contract inmate labor for pennies per hour. Today over 2 million people are incarcerated in the US, and many are forced to work for private companies.
