Component level results from the recently published IPS Amazônia - Social Progress Index for the Brazilian Amazon study (ipsamazonia.org.br). The study, measuring human wellbeing across nine states in the Brazilian Amazon and covering nearly 24 million people, has revealed several areas of striking difference between the Amazon region and the overall state of Brazil. The Amazon's second worst-performing component (relative to Brazil as a whole) - Personal Rights - scores more than 31% lower (45.22) than the Brazilian national average (65.39).
