My Personal Brand
For my future job I want to be able to have fun each and every day. I don’t want to be
stuck in an office all day. In the sports field there are many jobs that are more hands on than
others. After talking with some friends and family that are working in the sports field I have
realized how much satisfaction comes with working within sports. I love working with teams and
I want to continue that for the rest of my life. Teamwork has been a big strength of mine and I
believe that I will be able to be most effective in that type of work environment. I’m not worried
about how much I’m going to make. For me, I’m going to work hard no matter what position I
am in. With that being said I am also a huge family guy. I don’t want to have to move far away
from my family. Right now, I’m really interested in being a basketball operations manager for a
collegiate basketball team. I haven’t decided if I want to be a coach or not yet and with the
basketball operations manager I’ll be able to stay in touch with the basketball side of things. The
type of corporate culture I want to be in includes a very competitive and teamwork driven
culture. I want to have a lot of success within my job and I think that starts with teamwork.
As a young kid, sports had always been a huge part of my life. I played every sport that I
could growing up. If I wasn’t playing a sport I was watching it on tv with my dad and brother. As
I grew older my passion for basketball grew bigger than any other sport. I decided to focus on
basketball because ultimately, I wanted to play college basketball. That worked out pretty well
2. for me as I am now playing at Mount St. Joseph University. My love for sports will never go
away. The passion I have for sports ultimately led me to deciding my major, Business Sports
Management. I chose this field because I’m very interested in the business side of sports.
Especially how teams and organizations make their money. Even though I am not sure exactly
what I want to do right now, I feel that my passion for sports will lead to success in the sports
field.
While I was growing up in a small town that loved its high school sports, I realized how
much of an impact I could have on younger kids. Being a role model for the kids that came to
every single one of my basketball games was important to me. Those kids wanted to be exactly
like me, wear the same number as me, and act exactly how I did. That felt amazing to me. When
I find a job, I want to be able to be an active role model for anyone working with and around me.
Carrying on that role model passion will help me become the best employee I can be. I will hold
myself to a high standard each and every day to show that I am an important asset to the
company or organization. Hopefully someday I will be put into a position where I can be an
active role model.
My professional theme starts out with the fact that I’m very determined in whatever I do.
If I am given a task I’m going to try and complete it as fast as I can and to the best of my ability.
For example, during my senior year of basketball, I tore my ACL. The doctor said it would take
8 months before I would be able to play again. I got back in 5 months because of how
determined I was to get back to playing. I did everything I could to get back to playing as soon as
I could. I have always been on sports teams which has allowed me to become adequate at
working with teams and communicating with all the members of that team. I feel as if my
communication and leadership could be very essential to any company.
3. The type of image I want people to have of me is that I am a committed and ambitious
employee. I want people to say good things about me when I’m not around. I want them to tell
people how essential I am to the company. This is a big thing for me because I want to be
successful in whatever field I end up in. I don’t want to be recognized for being lazy or a liability
to the company. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure my professional theme is the best
it can be.
Ultimately, I want employers to know that I am going to give my all in whatever is
thrown my way. I’m going to be determined and committed to being a great asset to the
company. My prior background with sports and my accomplishments will attest to how hard
working I am. I had to spend countless hours in the gym to be able to score 1,000 points in my
high school basketball career. Once I set my mind to something, I am going to complete that
goal. While playing basketball in college is not easy. My time management skills are a big help
in completing what I need to get done with the little time I have to do it. I feel that all my
experience and work ethic will translate perfectly to a work environment. I’m exciting to find a
job I love and enjoy.
