This report analyzes the development and implementation of quality-of-care indicators using electronic health records (EHRs) across five healthcare providers. The case studies highlight both challenges and successes, including issues surrounding data validity, workflow efficiency, and staff support, while showcasing how EHR-based measures can improve clinical care. A typology for categorizing electronic indicators is proposed, emphasizing that effective integration of quality measures into EHRs is essential for enhancing healthcare outcomes.
