The document provides summaries for 14 picture books for children published between 2011-2012. The books cover a range of topics including a pig parade, thankfulness, a giant chicken, delivering a birthday present to a princess, a book woman who visits children in the mountains, a goldfish's experiences in its bowl, kindness in Vietnam, rude dinner party guests, the myth of Persephone, the 1960 Greensboro sit-in, a 19th century slave who became a poet and potter, the invention of bubble gum, poems from a dog's perspective, mirror poems with reversed perspectives, and haiku poems for boys about nature.
The document provides an overview and lesson plans for teaching the book Keeper of the Night by Lee Ann Pittman. It includes 4 lesson plans: 1) having students create a collage interpreting the book, 2) working in groups to understand the feelings of the grieving family, 3) listening to music and comparing it to Isabel's life, and 4) presenting facts about Guam. The lessons aim to help students understand the story of a 13-year-old girl coming to terms with her mother's death on the island of Guam.
Both the 1951 and 2010 Disney version of Alice in Wonderland differ significantly from the original books. In this lecture I show that one of the most important differences is the genre of the story that is told in each of these.
A Legend of the Northland is folklore told to the children to instil this moral lesson. The poem talks about a little woman who was punished by saint Peter for refusing to give him any one of the cakes that she had baked. ... The behaviour of the woman provokes Saint Peter who curses her and changes her into a woodpecker.
A shepherd boy cries "wolf" twice as a prank, causing villagers to rush and help unnecessarily. When a real wolf attacks the flock, the villagers don't believe the boy's cries for help, thinking it's another joke. They ignore the boy until it's too late and the wolf has killed many sheep. The story teaches that lying reduces trust, so others may not believe the truth even when it's important.
Anna Sewell wrote the children's classic Black Beauty in 1877, drawing on her experiences growing up around horses. The book is a fictional autobiography told from the perspective of Black Beauty, a horse, describing his experiences being sold to different owners, some who treat him well and others who treat him poorly. The turning point occurs when Black Beauty is driven drunk by Reuben Smith and gets injured. In the end, Black Beauty is sold one last time and lives out his days peacefully with a kind owner.

Ready to move in properties are generally preferable to under construction properties for several key reasons:
1) With a ready property, buyers can see exactly what they are purchasing and ensure it matches the specifications promised, avoiding potential issues with an unfinished development.
2) Legal documents like completion and occupancy certificates can be easily checked for a completed property, verifying its status.
3) Ready properties allow for immediate gratification and occupation, rather than requiring buyers to wait 3-5 years until an under construction property is finished.
There is lot to assimilate from the ever riveting life of Mr. Narendra Modi during his early struggling “to get through life” childhood days, when he was 6 years old, the man who is now the Face of India, back then helped his father sell tea to passengers whenever an odd train came into the small Vadnager station in Gujarat. There is nothing exceptional about the life he lives, except he always took pride in the struggle and crusade life put him through and embraced what life has always thrown in his way.
Let’s revisit the beguiling life of PM Shri Narendra Damodardas Modi and took in the course of transition that elicited from him being a tea seller to the Prime Minister of India.

About suffering they were never wrong,
The old Masters: how well they understood
Its human position: how it takes place
While someone else is eating or opening a window or just walking
dully along;
How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting
For the miraculous birth, there always must be
Children who did not specially want it to happen, skating
On a pond at the edge of the wood:
They never forgot
That even the dreadful martyrdom must run its course
Anyhow in a corner, some untidy spot
Where the dogs go on with their doggy life and the torturer's horse
Scratches its innocent behind on a tree.
In Breughel's Icarus, for instance: how everything turns away
Quite leisurely from the disaster; the ploughman may
Have heard the splash, the forsaken cry,
But for him it was not an important failure; the sun shone
As it had to on the white legs disappearing into the green
Water, and the expensive delicate ship that must have seen
Something amazing, a boy falling out of the sky,
Had somewhere to get to and sailed calmly on.

This document discusses narrative medicine and uses Sylvia Plath's novel The Bell Jar as a case example. It summarizes how Plath uses present tense in the novel to compare electroconvulsive therapy to execution and discuss other personal topics. The document also includes examples of narrative writing from patients to demonstrate how narrative competence can help physicians understand patients and provide more empathic care. It concludes that narrative medicine involves understanding and communicating a patient's story in order to care for them effectively.

- Later in life, Einstein had to flee his home in Germany and adapt to a new country and culture when he emigrated to the United States to escape the Holocaust as a Jew.
This document discusses using mentor texts to teach writing. Mentor texts act as coaches and partners for students and teachers to bring joy to writing. 1. PERFECT FLAWS: ALBERT EINSTEIN
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’
Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on
me”- 2 Corinthians 12:9
"God uses people who fail - Cause there aren't any other kind around"-John C . Maxwell
In life, you don’t inspire others by being perfect. You inspire others by how you deal with your
imperfections. SamKeen said, “Wecome to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see
an imperfect person perfectly”. One of the most inspiring motivational speakers of all time, the late
MylesMunroe, some yearsago wentdownmemorylane todescribe how a supposed weakness turned
his life around by being a spring board for him into national and international limelight. Myles was
labeled a talkative when he was young, to the extent that he got sent off from the dining table as a
punishmentforhis unbridled tongue.Everyattempttostiflethisunrestrainedvice in him made little or
no headwayashe latertalkedand walkedhimselfintobecominganinternational speaker. He once said,
“My parent did everything to stop me from talking. I was becoming both an embarrassment and a
nuisance to my community but it is amazing today that people now pay me all over the world just to
come and talk!”

2. destination! They are called ‘Perfect Flaws’. Before I go into my lead figure, Albert Einstein, for this
write-up,Iwill lovetoshare a storythat will drive inmypointof view clearly. The story is an Indian tale
captioned, The Broken Pot.
A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on an end of a pole which he carried across his
neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full
portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master’s house, the cracked pot
arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a
half pots full of water in his master’s house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its
accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of
itsown imperfection, andmiserablethatitwasable to accomplishonlyhalf of whatithad beenmade to
do. After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by
the stream.
"I am ashamedof myself, andIwant toapologize toyou."
"Why?"askedthe bearer."What are youashamedof?"
"I have beenable,forthese pasttwoyears,todeliveronlyhalf myloadbecause thiscrackinmy side
causeswaterto leakout all the wayback to your master’shouse.Because of myflaws, youhave to do
all of thiswork,andyou don'tget full value fromyourefforts."the potsaid.The waterbearerfeltsorry
for the oldcracked pot,and inhiscompassionhe said,"Aswe returnto the master’shouse,Iwant you
to notice the beautiful flowersalongthe path."
Indeed, astheywentupthe hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild
flowersonthe side of the path, and thischeerediton. But at the endof the trail,it still felt bad because
it hadleakedouthalf its load. The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only
on your side of your path, but not on the other pots side? That's because I have always known about
your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day
while we walkbackfromthe stream, you've wateredthem.FortwoyearsI have beenable to pick these
beautiful flowersto decorate my masters table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not
have thisbeautyto grace hishouse."The crackedpointbecame sohappythat it wisheditcouldleak out
the more! Since that day onward, the leaking pot became so fulfilled having realized how its own
leakages had brought much beauty to its bearer’s master.
Each of us has our unique flaws. We're all cracked pots. We need to allow the Lord to use our flaws to
grace HisFather's table.InGod’sgreat economy,nothinggoesto waste. Either as a teacher, a coach, an
entrepreneur, a manager, a husband, a wife or a leader, we must learn how to see the uniqueness in
people. We must maximize people’s flaws by putting them in places where their flaws can be turned
into fortune!
One of the greatest scientists of all times, Albert Einstein did not have a rosy walk to stardom. Albert
Einsteinwasunable totalkuntil he reachedthe age of 4 and evenwhenhe startedtalking,he wasslurry
and incoherent in speech. When the professor who revolutionized physics with his General Theory of
3. Relativitywas16 yearsof age in 1895, AlbertEinstein’steachersaid to his father, Hermann Einstein: “It
doesn’t matter what he does, he will never amount to anything.” This was a damning report from the
headof hisMunichschool. As a child, Albert Einstein's teachers thought he was mentally retarded and
theytaggedhima nuisance in virtually all of the classroom activities. Within ten years of this woefully
inaccurate prediction, Albert’s colossal intellect was already beginning to unlock the secrets of the
universe.
In time, he became the foremost mind of the twentieth century. Einstein, who died in 1955, aged 76
after a career garlanded with honours including a Nobel Prize in 1921, clearly took the criticism on the
chin. By the time he died, he became the most famous scientist of all time and his name became
synonymouswiththe word,genius.So,whathappenedtothe criticswhosaidhe wasmentally retarded
and would never amount to anything? Well, nobody knows what happened to them, since nobody
bothersto rememberthem! Nowonderthe reasonforone of hiswonderful quotes: “Great spirits have
always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”
WhenAlbertEinsteindiedof anabdominal aneurysmin1955, hisbrainwas removedwithinsevenanda
half hours of his death by Dr. Thomas Harvey, a pathologist at Princeton University. The story of what
happenedtoEinstein’sbrainoverthe past60 years,and whattoday’sscience tellsusaboutthe cause of
his genius, is fascinating. A team of researchers at McMaster University in Canada made the shocking
discovery that a portion of Einstein’s brain called the parietal operculum region was vacant! The
researchersspeculatedthatthisvacancy actually allowed his thoughts to “see” each other, rather than
“speak”, which backs up Einstein’s own claim that he was a visual thinker, not a verbal communicator.
It was laterverifiedthatthe “flaw” in Einstein’s brain contributed to his ability to understand complex
scientific problems. It became obvious why he began speaking late, sometime after age four, and
remained inarticulate and possibly dyslectic through his early school years. From a neurological
standpoint,AlbertEinstein’sbrainwastaggeda‘flaw’;whileothersbelieved that his brain was divinely
tinkeredwith.Thoughthe flawaffectedhisspeech andsense of coherence when he was small, but the
same flaw eventually became the secret of his awesomeness, making him an unprecedented
phenomenon and genius.
Instead of getting mad at some of our weaknesses, we are to find the perfect use for them and that is
whyI call them“PerfectFlaws”. Asa youthspecialist, relationshipexpert and entrepreneurship coach, I
have realizedthatthe bestwayto make people productive and fulfilled is to put them in their areas of
gifting. Myles Munroe once said, ‘’To know the right places for people, we must know their area of
gifting.’’ The Africanyouthsare nota misfitorliabilityinthe society. We are ‘dynamites’, we are full of
potentials and gifts. it is just that our energy is not being put into proper use. As the Serenity Prayer
goes: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I
can; and wisdom to know the difference. Embrace your perfect imperfections!
