The new e-commerce regulations in Malaysia require all online businesses to disclose the name and contact information of the individual or company conducting the online sales. This includes providing the seller's full name or company name, business registration number if applicable, valid contact details, clear product descriptions, full prices including all costs, payment methods, terms and conditions, and estimated delivery times which must be updated for buyers. Any seller who provides false or misleading information about these details faces legal penalties including suspension of their online trading account. The regulations are aimed at protecting buyers by ensuring they have clear and accurate information about the sellers they are purchasing from online.

1. ome of you may have noticed or read about the newly enacted e-commerce
regulations, Consumer Protection Regulations (Electronic Trade
Transactions) 2012, (http://www.kpdnkk.gov.my/urus-niaga-...lektronik-
2012), that all online businesses is required to provide details of the people
and company whom buyers are trading or dealing with. This regulation will
come into affect on the 1st July 2013.
With the new law in affect, it may have some impact on certain sellers who
is trading or selling part time. The law requires that all sellers to disclose
their personal name in their posting. Unless you register a business or
company, then you are required to display your company or business
name.
Please find below summary of what is required for anyone who conducts
business online, be it they are doing it in their own website or marketplace
and on forum.
The merchants details and information which will be shown on product
posting page:
1. merchant's fullname or merchant's company name
2. *company or business registration number (if applicable - merchants
who owns company or business)
3. valid contact details - Email address and telephone number, or address
of the person who operates the online business
4. clear description of the main characteristics of the goods or
services offered
5. the full price of the goods or services including shipping costs,
transportation costs, taxes and any other costs.
6. the methods of payment
7. terms and condition – warranty, shipping & delivery, etc
8. the estimated time of delivery – shipping tracking details compulsory
to be updated to buyers
The above criteria will be included in the merchant's product posting page
and this allows buyer to be able to read them and understand them clearly
and easily.

2. Any person who discloses or provides the above information that he knows
or has reason to believe is false or misleading, commits an offence.
Lelong.my has the rights to suspend your trading account indefinitely and
remove all your product postings.
Besides this, the merchant shall also;
1. provide the appropriate means to enable the buyer to rectify any
errors prior to the confirmation of the order made by the buyer; and
2. shall acknowledge receipt of the order to the buyer without undue
delay.
Again, we advice our part-time sellers who is still using your personal
name, to register either a business or a company for online selling
purposes.
