1. Peer Educators win 2010 NW Region Bacchus Award
Koree Haw kes, Ashley Havlicak, Jessica Lott, Kara Biddle, Jillian Putra, Joe Peterson
Health education and promotion majors Koree Hawkes and Ashley Havlicak were honored at the recent
BACCHUS Network regional conference for their peer education efforts at Boise State and the local
community.
Hawkes and Havlicak were part of the University Health Services Wellness Works Peer Educators team
who received the received the Outstanding Peer Education Program Award. Other team members
included students Kara Biddle, Jessica Lott, Jillian Putra, and Joe Peterson.
Wellness Works Peer Educators coordinate health campaigns and provide essential outreach services for
students, campus groups, classes and organizations on a variety of health-related topics. They receive
training to create and carry out programs to improve campus well-being.
Associated Students of Boise State University sponsored the Peer Educators team to attend the
BACCHUS Area 1 Regional Conference in Seattle, where the award was presented April 10. Health
educator and program coordinator Jodi Brawley accompanied the team to the conference.
The BACCHUS Network is a university and community network focusing on comprehensive health and
safety initiatives. BACCHUS promotes student and young adult leadership on health and safety issues.
