Summary
What is Peer Education
Purpose of Peer
Education
Throughout this semester I have interacted
with Boise State University’s student
population. Through this internship, I have
educated students about multiple health
topics ranging from sexual health, drugs
and alcohol to bike safety. I learned more
about health and wellness than I had ever
anticipated. I was given free rein on what
topics I wanted to cover and every idea I
had was a possibility!
Peer Educators are valued members of the
university community. We provide essential
outreach services for students, campus
groups, classes, and organizations on a
variety of health-related topics. We received
relevant training to develop and implement
programs designed to improve campus
well-being.
As a Peer Educator I am tasked with interacting
with the student population on health topics.
We present the topics through the monthly
Health Huts and programs through tabling,
dispersing educational information, small
group presentations, social media, and health
and wellness games and activities. The topics
are tailored to the students' needs. I develop,
plan, implement, and evaluate the program
from start to finish.
