PDHPE plays an important role in schools by developing students' knowledge of health and healthy lifestyles, reinforcing the understanding of oneself and others through physical activity, and developing students' decision-making, relationships, health, coordination, and emotional development. PDHPE is significant in schools as it promotes social, mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing in students and the community.

2. Rationale In the community today there is an increasing need to promote health and healthy lifestyles which can increase social, mental, physical, spiritual wellbeing. PDHPE plays the role of developing a student’s knowledge and understanding of these issues therefore there is a great importance and need for PDHPE in schools.

3. Understanding PDHPE reinforces the importance of understanding the self and others and promotes the use of physical activity as a way of interacting and staying healthy.

4. Development PDHPE develops a students decision-making skills, relationships, health, lifestyle, coordination, and movement patterns.
