writing to recommend Mr. Sawatzki for a USRA Scholarship Award. Mr. Sawatzki has been
working on my research projects for three months now. I have found him to be an excellent
research assistant. He is very capable, creative and hard-working. He is also very polite and a joy
to work with.
He was responsible for the mechanical design of a helicopter-borne system to flash lights while
the helicopter under-flies a down-looking experiment on a stratospheric balloon in order to
calibrate it. When he joined our team this design was on a tight schedule. He worked quickly and
accurately to create the design and oversee its manufacture and assembly. He has also
participated in fit-checks ofthis equipment on the helicopter.
Now he is beginning to work on a satellite experiment we are developing.
I strongly recommend Mr. Sawatzki for a USRA Scholarship Award. I am sure this award will
result in the education ofan excellent engineer.
