 This purpose of this research is to know the level of satisfaction
of this band (PBS) system towards the students in lower
secondary school in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Buloh

 This research involved of 50 students in form 1, 2 and 3 as our
respondents. This questionnaire consists of three parts which is
Part A related to the personal details and reasons of whether to

the level of satisfaction of PBS system towards the lower
secondary school in Sekolah Menegah Kebangsaan Buloh Kasap
and Part C is the reason why PBS system shoul be terminate.

PBS is one of the form of assessment that have holistic value which is
counted the cognitive aspect (intellect), affective (emosion and
spiritual), psychomotor (physical) and social concord with the Falsafah
Pendidikan Kebangsaan. This PBS system assessed the process and

system as many teachers are forced to skip topics as cited in the
National Union of the teaching Profession (NUTP).
(Kaos. J, 2012)
1) To measure the effectiveness of the band system (PBS) in lower
secondary school.

2) To identify the level of students satisfaction toward the band
system (PBS).
After this PBS system being implemented, most of the lower
secondary school students can not accept the changes which
is from the examination system to PBS system.
The problem is either the lower secondary school students
satisfied or not satisfied with this PBS system and whether it
should be continued.
50 set of questionnaire were distributed to form 1, 2 and 3 in
Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Buloh Kasap, Johor.

Sample is fixed in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Buloh Kasap
which is 20 set of questionnaire for Form 3 and 15 set of
questionnaire for form 2 and another 15 set for Form 1.

We are using the frequency calculation in doing the analysis.
The limitation of the study is related to the small sample
of size that only focuses in the Sekolah Menegah
Kebangsaan Buloh Kasap students.

We also having problem with the chinese students in
Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Buloh Kasap which they
are not able to understand the questionnaire.

Another limitation of study is the time constraints which
we have to delay on giving the questionnaire because of
the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Buloh Kasap have
postponed the date.

As a conclusion, we can see that this PBS System is not
accepted by the students in the Sekolah Menengah
Kebangsaan Buloh Kasap. They feel that this PBS System is
not effective for students. Therefore, they are hoping that
this PBS system should be terminated. This is because this
PBS system gives more disadvantages compared to the
advantages. The disadvantages can be shown through the
increases of truancy in Sekolah Menengah Buloh Kasap, less
competition in academic achievement and just focus on
assessment.
1) The lower secondary students in Sekolah Menengah Buloh
Kasap should be exposed to the mission and vision of the PBS
system. So, the students will know why government
implemented this system.
2) Teachers should plays an important roles to make the
students will study hard for their achievement. Even
though, there will be no PMR examination; there will be some
test and quizzes that can evaluate the level of their
achievement.
3) Another recommendation is, teachers must be professional
to teach their students and finish their syllabus so that the
students will learn the entire syllabus not only the syllabus
that are being assessed. This means that, the teachers should
go for a seminar for well prepared teaching and evaluating.
