The Pueblo Indians lived in the Southwestern United States, constructing multi-story cliff dwelling homes out of clay that could withstand rain storms and housed extended families. They followed an agricultural lifestyle as mainly vegetarians but also hunted small game like rabbits and squirrels when available, adapting to the hot summers and mild winters of their desert climate. The Pueblo Indians practiced an animistic religion that worshipped many gods and viewed horses as holy, believing people should find happiness in summer.
