This document discusses patents and making money from ideas. It provides tips for writing a patent, such as making the body extensive with many future possibilities but not too abstract. Claims should break down the body into long and wide but focused sections. Registering a patent can cost $30K-$50K and take 3-5 years for approval. As an alternative, a provisional patent can be registered for about $100 to delay the full patent process for a year. Public knowledge cannot be patented.

3. The Patent – Body and Claims
When writing the Body of the patent, make sure it is extensive.
It should include many markets, fields, areas and future possibilities.
This will give you option for future actions.
But, it should also not be too abstract, because then you may miss the
target all together. Which will give your competition the opportunity…
Patent Claims:
In accordance to the Body, you will need to write Claims, which are the
break-down of the Body.
Make those long and wide but at the same time focused.
(*) Important to remember: with time, your can add Extensions to the patent.

4. Patent on a Process
Patenting a process is very difficult. Since the
process is been done by two parties, the patent
for this is difficult to describe. And you can not
write your patent for the whole process.
Neither one of the parties made the whole
process, thus, neither one broke the patent…

5. Register for a Provisional
At a lower cost than registering a patent, you
can register a Provisional. Registering the
provisional is also easier and faster.
The provisional is like getting the patent. It costs
about $100. And by getting the provisional, you
get yourself 1 year postpone on getting your
patent registered.

6. Patenting on Public Knowledge
You can not register a patent on something that
is already a public knowledge.

7. Cost and Getting Approved
Registering the patent costs between
