L'Insee révèle qu'entre 2012 et 2014, 48% des sociétés de 1à salariés ou plus ont innové dans les secteurs marchands non agricoles. Elles ont été plus nombreuses à innover en marketing ou en organisation (38 %) qu’en produits ou en procédés (31 %). Une société sur huit a introduit des produits nouveaux qui n’existaient pas sur le marché.
Les sociétés de l'information-communication (71%) et de l'industrie (59%) particulièrement innovantes
Selon l'Insee, les sociétés de l’information-communication sont particulièrement innovantes (71 %) ainsi que celles de l’industrie (59 %). La propension à innover augmente avec la taille des sociétés et l’appartenance à un groupe. Par ailleurs, les sociétés exportatrices sont plus innovantes que les autres. Plus d’un tiers des sociétés qui innovent en produits ou en procédés bénéficient d’un soutien financier public, principalement du crédit d’impôt recherche et d’autres exonérations fiscales ou sociales.
Près de la moitié des sociétés innovantes dégage des bénéfices environnementaux, au niveau de l’entreprise ou de l’utilisateur final. Plus de 90 % des sociétés qui n’ont pas innové entre 2012 et 2014 n’en avaient pas la nécessité. Certaines ont aussi été freinées par une demande incertaine ou un obstacle financier. Sur un champ comparable, commun aux enquêtes de 2012 et 2014, la part des sociétés innovantes a augmenté. Cette hausse est tirée par les innovations technologiques.
