What is ParkNET?
ParkNET is a tecnological solution for actual parking lots that increases the efficiency and 
control in parking lots through the use of smart technology. ParkNET Transforms the parking 
experience   of users by  simplifying  check­in  process,  reducing    check­out  time,  and  offers 
convenient services not available nowadays. Please visit us at: http://parknet.jimdo.com.

Our customers
We defined two kinds of customers: people who have cars and motorcycles, which have to 
use parking lots, and the parking lot owners. This last one was segmented in two groups;  
parking lots that charge for the use and those who don't charge, for example parking lots at 
some malls. 

Test the value proposition
In order to test our value propositions we designed two surveys, one for parking lot owners 
and   the   other   one   for   park   users.   We   also   did   personal   interviews   to   both   of   them.   Our  
surveys   were   available   at   our   webpage   (http://parknet.jimdo.com/survey):     We   also   used 
social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter) to invite more people to fill in the surveys. The  
survey was structured to get the following information: Identify the main problems people have  
when parking, testing the value proposition we discussed, and define if the people are willing  
to pay for that services.

Results
The   results   showed   that   our   hipothesis   were   right:  An   overwhelming   majority   (82%)   of 
customers would like to use mobile phones to pay for parking and 83% of them believe it is  
better than the current way. The paradox is that even though people may not use mobile 
phone to pay, they still believe it is better. Most of the customers would like to check­in using  
the   mobile   phones   and   nearly   75%   believe   this   will   be   an   improvement   over   the   current 
tickets. There was also an overwhelming support for knowing the online availability of free 
parking spots, and nearly 75% of the people are willing to reserve parking spots online.  There 
is also an interest of knowing where the car was parked, as nearly 75% of the customers have  
forgotten where they left their car and nearly 65% of them had difficulty in getting their car

Conclusions
It could be stated that the value propositions were of real interest for our potential customers. 
The use of the cellphone in the parking activities has been therefore accepted, as more than  
¾ of the survey population accepted the propositions. ParkNET will initially focus on the two 
main problems for the parking lot users: Easing the checkin and checkout process and finding  
a free spot.
