Derivation and Application of Multistep Methods to a Class of First-order Ord...AI Publications
Of concern in this work is the derivation and implementation of the multistep methods through Taylor’s expansion and numerical integration. For the Taylor’s expansion method, the series is truncated after some terms to give the needed approximations which allows for the necessary substitutions for the derivatives to be evaluated on the differential equations. For the numerical integration technique, an interpolating polynomial that is determined by some data points replaces the differential equation function and it is integrated over a specified interval. The methods show that they are only convergent if and only if they are consistent and stable. In our numerical examples, the methods are applied on non-stiff initial value problems of first-order ordinary differential equations, where it is established that the multistep methods show superiority over the single-step methods in terms of robustness, efficiency, stability and accuracy, the only setback being that the multi-step methods require more computational effort than the single-step methods.

known to be related to differential equations. The considered model in this article takes
the form of a second order non-linear ordinary differential equation (ODE) which is
conventional solved by reducing to the system of first order. This approach is
computationally tasking, unlike block methods which bypasses reduction by directly
solving the model. A new approach is introduced named Modified Taylor Series

Block Hybrid Method for the Solution of General Second Order Ordinary Differe...QUESTJOURNAL
ABSTRACT: We consider the construction of block hybrid method for the solution of general second order ODEs. Derivation of the method was based on the use of hermite polynomial as basis function. The main method and its additional equations are obtained from the same continuous formulation via interpolation and collocation procedures. The method is then applied in block form as simultaneous numerical integrator, this approach eliminates requirement for starting values, and it also reduces computational effort. The stability properties of the method is discussed and the stability region shown. Two numerical experiments were given to illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of the new method.
A numerical solution for Sine-Gordon type system was done by the use of two finite difference schemes, the first is the explicit scheme and the second is the Crank-Nicholson scheme. A comparison between the two schemes showed that the explicit scheme is easier and has faster convergence than the Crank-Nicholson scheme which is more accurate. The MATLAB environment was used for the numerical computations.

Generally a range of equation solvers for estimating the solution of an equation contain the derivative of
first or higher order. Such solvers are difficult to apply in the instances of complicated functional
relationship. The equation solver proposed in this paper meant to solve many of the involved complicated
problems and establishing a process tending towards a higher ordered by alloying the already proved
conventional methods like Newton-Raphson method (N-R), Regula Falsi method (R-F) & Bisection method
(BIS). The present method is good to solve those nonlinear and transcendental equations that cannot be
solved by the basic algebra. Comparative analysis are also made with the other racing formulas of this
group and the result shows that present method is faster than all such methods of the class.

In this article, a new method of analysis of the differential equations on the sphere using Leapfrog
method is presented. To illustrate the effectiveness of the Leapfrog method, an example of the differential
equations on the sphere has been considered and the solutions were obtained using methods taken taken from
the literature [17] and Leapfrog method. The obtained discrete solutions are compared with the exact solutions
of the differential equations on the sphere. Solution graphs for the differential equations on the sphere have
been presented in the graphical form to show the efficiency of this Leapfrog method. This Leapfrog method can
be easily implemented in a digital computer and the solution can be obtained for any length of time
A non local linear dynamical system and violation of Bell’s inequality.Fausto Intilla
Abstract: A simple classical non-local dynamical system with random initial conditions and an output projecting the state variable on selected axes has been defined to mimic a two-channel quantum coincidence experiment. Non-locality is introduced by a parameter connecting the initial conditions
to the selection of the projection axes. The statistics of the results shows violations up to 100% of the Bell’s inequality, in the form of Clauser-HorneShimony-Holt (CHSH), strongly depending on the non-locality parameter. Discussions on the parallelism with Bohmian mechanics are given.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Abstract
In this research paper, a pair of three-step hybrid block methods is derived for the solutions of
linear and nonlinear first-order systems. The derivation is carried out with the aid of collocation
and interpolation technique and the adoption of power series as basis function. The first and
second three-step hybrid block methods are derived by incorporating a single and double off-grid
point(s) respectively within the three-step integration interval. The methods derived were then
applied on some linear and nonlinear first-order systems to test their accuracy and efficiency. The
results obtained show that the three-step hybrid block method with two off- grid points
performed better than the three-step hybrid block method with one off-grid point. It was also
clear from the results obtained that the two methods derived performed better than the existing
methods with which we compared our results. We further analyzed the basic properties of the
methods derived. These properties include zero-stability, consistence, convergence and region of
absolute stability.
Keywords: First-order, hybrid, linear, nonlinear, off-grid, three-step.
I. Introduction
In this paper, we shall derive a pair of three-step methods for the solution of linear and nonlinear
first order systems of the form,
where f : 2q → q; y, y q, and q is the dimension of the system. The function f is
assumed to satisfy the Lipschitz condition stated in the Theorem below.

f (x, y) be a function, defined and continuous for all points (x, y) in the region D defined by a x

such that (x, y) and f (x, y*) are both in D,
Then, if is any given number, there exists a unique solution y(x) of the initial value problem

as a Lipschitz condition and the constant L as a Lipschitz constant.
A lot of algorithms and methods have been proposed by scholars for the solution of first-order
stiff systems of the form (1), these authors among others include [2]-[9].
However, it is important to state that these methods have some setbacks ranging from small
convergence/implementation region to inefficiency in terms of accuracy. In view of these
setbacks, we are motivated to formulate a pair of three-step hybrid block methods that will
address some of these setbacks. The proposed methods have the advantage of generating
simultaneous numerical approximations at different grid points within the interval of integration.
Another advantage of the methods is that they are less expensive in terms of the number of
function evaluations compared to the conventional linear multistep and the Runge-Kutta
methods. They also preserve the traditional advantage of one-step methods of being self-starting
and permitting easy change of step-size during integration, [10].
II. DERIVATION OF THE THREE-STEP HYBRID BLOCK METHODS
In this section, a pair of three-step hybrid block methods of the form,

Where A(0) , E, d and b are (r -1) x (r -1)matrices shall be derived for the solution of linear and
nonlinear first order systems of the form (1). To achieve this, we approximate the exact solution
y(x) to (1) by assuming an approximate solution Y (x) in the form,
where r and s are the numbers of collocation and interpolation points respectively, xx0, xn , pi,
are undetermined coefficients that must be obtained and i (x) are basis polynomial function of
degree r + s -1 .

III. ANALYSIS OF THE THREE-STEP HYBRID BLOCK METHODS
In this section, some basic properties of the pair of three-step hybrid block methods shall be
analyzed. These properties among others include the order, consistency, zero-stability,
convergence and stability region.
A. Order and Error Constants of the Three-Step Hybrid Block Methods
The linear operator Ly(x);h of the three-step method of the form (4) is defined as,
Taking the Taylor series expansion of (17) and comparing the coefficients of h gives,
Definition 1 [11]
A method is said to be of order p if p is the largest positive integer for which
The term c p 1 is called the error constant of the method. Suffice to say
that the order of a method quantifies the rate of convergence of a numerical approximation of a
differential equation to that of the exact solution. On the other hand, the error constant is the
accumulated error when the order of a method has been computed.
Therefore, the Taylor series expansion of the three-step hybrid block method with one off-grid
point is,
Thus, implying that the order of the three-step method with one off-grid
point is p = 5 5 5 5 T
. That is, the method is of uniform order 5.
The error constant is given by

Similarly, the Taylor series expansion of the three-step hybrid block method with two off-grid
points is given by,
Thus, implying that the order of the three-step method with two off-
grid points is That is, the method is of uniform order 6. It’s error constant
is given by
B. Consistency of the Three-Step Hybrid Block Methods
Recall that a method is consistent if it has order p > 1, [11]. Thus, the three-step hybrid block
method with one off-grid point (11) is consistent since it is of uniform order p = 5 > 1. Also, the
three-step hybrid block method with two off-grid points (16) is consistent since it is of uniform
order p = 6 > 1. Consistency controls the magnitude of the local truncation error committed at
each stage of the computation.
C. Zero-Stability of the Three-Step Hybrid Block Methods
Definition 2 [10]
A block method is said to be zero-stable, if the roots zs , s 1, 2,..., k of the first characteristic
polynomial p (z) defined by p(z) = det( zA(0)
- E) satisfies and every root satisfying
have multiplicity not exceeding the order of the differential equation.
For the three-step method with one off-grid point (11), the first characteristic polynomial is given
by,
9. UtilitasMathematica

Gives z1 = z2 = z3 = 0 and z4 = 1. Hence, the three-step hybrid block method with one off-grid
point is zero-stable. Applying the same procedure for the three-step hybrid block method with
two off-grid points (16), we obtain z1 = z2 = z3 = z4 = 0 and z5 = 1, implying that it is also is
zero-stable.
D. Convergence of the Three-Step Hybrid Block Methods
Theorem 2 [10]
The necessary and sufficient conditions for the linear multistep method to be convergent are that
it be consistent and zero-stable.
Therefore, the two three-step methods derived in (11) and (16) are both convergent since they are
consistent and zero-stable, [10].
E. Regions of Absolute Stability of the Three-Step Hybrid Block Methods
Applying the boundary locus method, the stability polynomial of the three-step hybrid block
method with one off-grid point (11) is given by,
Therefore, the region of absolute stability of the three-step hybrid block method with one off-grid
point is shown in Fig. 1.

Fig. 1. Stability region of the three-step hybrid block method with one off-grid point.
The stability region obtained in Fig. 1 is A-stable. Note that the stability region is the interior of
the curve.
On the other hand, the stability polynomial of the three-step hybrid block method with two off-
grid points (16) is given by,
Thus, the region of absolute stability of the three-step hybrid block method with two off-grid
points is shown in Fig. 2.

The stability region obtained in Fig. 2 is also A-stable.
